Australia's housing downturn broadened through July
The national median house price now sits at $1.01 million, having eased back from its 2026 peak, while units continue to track higher at $750,000, having shown more resilience through the downturn to date.

New sales listings continue to build
The 12 month rolling figure is now at 512,737, up from a low of 492,048 in January and around 2.1 per cent higher than 502,045 recorded in July last year.
Open home attendance
Attendance decline appears to be levelling out
The four week rolling average has held steady at 2.1 across the four weeks to 1 August, the first sustained pause in the decline since attendance began falling steadily from the start of the year.
Auction insights
Bidding numbers have improved in July
Registered bidders averaged 2.6 per property and active bidders 1.9, both up from June's 2.4 and 1.8.
