STAGE STAR Caroline O’Connor, who is playing Judy Garland in The Boy from Oz in Melbourne this month, has listed her Woollahra home with Ray White Double Bay director Michael Finger with a September 6 auction date.
O’Connor is well known for playing Velma Kelly in the musical Chicago in Australia as well as on Broadway. The three bedroom home at 27 Edgecliff Rd, Woollahra with a mid $2 million buyer’s price guide boasts a north-east and north-west aspect with Harbour Bridge views and off street parking.
Caroline O'Connor and husband Barrie Shaw have owned the property for the last 19 years.
Mr Finger has known the famous musical couple since he sold them a car in 1999.
“Barrie came to my home to see a car I was selling and we took the car for a test drive. He said he really liked it but would have to get his wife to see it and that'd be difficult as she worked at night,” Mr Finger recalled.
“No problem. I handed him the keys to keep the car for the night to show his wife. I still had no idea his wife was the famous singer and performer Caroline O’Connor.
“Barrie couldn't believe it and he went on to buy the Mercedes and from that day on we created this incredible bond built on trust.
“On a regular basis, we have stayed in touch about real estate. Recently Barrie called me to say that they wanted to sell their Sydney pad, and here we are.”
Mr Finger said the house was minutes walk to Bondi Junction and the train station.
“Bondi is extremely close. I think this house is deal for an executive family or family starting out on their first home,” he said.
“The floorplan is comfortable, flexible and works really well. There are a lot of cozy areas with places to read by the fireplaces or have breakfast on the open terrace overlooking Double Bay, Cooper Park, and Sydney Harbour Bridge.”
