THERE’S a 57 per cent jump in auction volume this weekend across the Ray White Australian network to 486 properties, including a very special Sydney apartment owned by a well known Australian fashion designer.

For those who don’t know 3/336 Crown St, Surry Hills and it’s claim to fame, the apartment is currently owned by Wheels & Dollbaby fashion designer Melanie Greensmith, who also happens to be the wife of Divinyls band member Mark McEntee.

In addition to its standout location, the two bedroom property was once the backdrop for one of Debbie Harry’s many fashion shoots. The house has also hosted Little Birdy singer Katy Steele, Jimmy Barnes’ daughter Elly May and Aussie rock goddess herself, Chrissy Amphlett.

The apartment has a price guide of $825,00 and is being sold through Ray White Taylor and Partners’ director James Peach who said the location, history and great price has been bringing in a lot of buyers.

“We’ve had about 65 groups come through the property, given out six contracts and have two or three buyers lined up so far. Most of the interest is coming from first home buyers but there’s also been a few investors thrown into the mix,” Mr Peach said.

As for the famous green wallpaper, Mr Peach said many of the buyers were initially planning to take it down until seeing it and immediately falling in love.

Crown St isn’t the only great property going to auction in New South Wales this weekend with the state continuing its winning streak this weekend after a massive showing last weekend.

In New South Wales’ capital, there are 72 homes going to auction with the ones to watch coming out of Ray White Balmain and Drummoyne.

Being sold by our Balmain office is the three bedroom brick home at 14 Jarvie Avenue, Petersham. Represented by Ray White Balmain’s Benjamin Martin, the property is a rare find in the area and hasn’t been on the market for 73 years.

“It’s had more than 150 groups through, mainly young couples and downsizers with a few investors,” Mr Martin said.

“It’s got that old world charm about it and is in a great location with wide frontage and a flexible layout the buyer can play with.”

Also in the inner west of Sydney, Ray White Drummoyne is expecting great results from several properties across the suburb. The three level 22 Campbell St home in Abbotsford being sold by agent Chris Wilkins has already had 65 groups through the property.

“We’ve had everyone from families, people looking to renovate, families looking to build something new to developers planning to build a duplex. It’s clearly a good cross section of buyers that will create a lot of competition,” Mr Wilkins said.

The Ray White Drummoyne agent is also expecting a lot of competition on 62 Millar St, Drummoyne and 1/26 Tavistock, Drummoyne (pictured above) this Saturday. Mr Wilkins said he’s had interest on Millar St from young families and couples while there has been more than 100 groups interested in Tavistock St.

Other notable auctions this weekend are 4 Baradine Place, Yarrawarrah (pictured above) being sold through Ray White Sutherland Shire’s Lisa Greig.

Also going under the hammer is 27 Oak St, North Narrabeen represented by Ray White Warriewood director Paul Franks and being called by corporate auctioneer James Kerley.

Ray White Baulkham Hills agent Daniel Sarzano is preparing for another great auction week with 9 Barina Downs Rd, Bella Vista which has a bidders price guide of $1.2 million.

Making a comeback after last week’s long weekend, Victoria is going strong with 139 auctions scheduled for Saturday.

Ray White Cheltenham sales consultant and auctioneer Angela Limanis is both representing and calling the auctions for 27 Parkin Ave, Cheltenham (pictured above) and 8 Bernie Smith St, Mulgrave. Ms Limanis said they have both had strong interest, especially from first home buyers.

“Parkin Avenue is the cutest two bedroom house on 600sqm. The owners purchased it from me seven years ago and are now looking to move back to their hometown in Queensland,” Ms Limanis said.

“We have had very good attendance and interest from first and second home buyers as the price guide is really attracting them.

“The Bernie Smith Street house has also been extremely well attended with close to 80 groups coming through. It’s extremely sought after by first home buyers and investors.”

Ray White Forest Hill agent Steven Yuen has already had 115 groups go through the three bedroom, family home he is representing at 1/24-26 Service Road, Blackburn.

“It’s in a cracking location, close to great schools, public transport and shops. Investors, downsizers and families have all shown interest over the three week campaign period,” Mr Yuen said.

Nearby in Doncaster East, Ray White Manningham senior sales agent Harry Lai is confident that the four bedroom home at 5 Gainsborough St will achieve a great result through auction this Saturday with a price guide of $1-1.1 million.

Near the Brisbane CBD in Queensland, 25 Aberleigh Rd, Herston is going to auction this Saturday through Sam Alroe of Ray White Spring Hill. Mr Alroe said the location is a huge drawcard for buyers.

“We have had 55 groups through so far and most of the people have been younger couples looking to get close to the city and families who want to take advantage of the Kelvin Grove school catchment,” Mr Alroe said.

Buyers have the opportunity to snag a large six-bedroom family home in the up and coming Hillcrest in South Australia. Ray White Norwood elite selling agent Nick Borrelli said that 52 Treweck Ave has been popular with buyers.

“There have been over 60 groups through in the first two weeks and a lot of family interest,” Mr Borrelli said.

Adelaide has more to offer with Ray White Glenelg sales agent Matt Dickinson selling a fully renovated, three bedroom bungalow style property at 50 East Avenue, Black Forest (pictured above) this Saturday. He said it’s just the right size to be popular with families and downsizers and has had almost 100 groups inspect the property.

The inner west suburb of Thebarton is also on the rise in 2020 and the residents of Adelaide will have a chance to buy into the up and coming suburb this weekend at 10 Ross St. Ray White Woodville agent Jonathon Kiritsis said the house, which has a price guide of $885,000, was originally a combined corner store and family dwelling and still retains much of this old world feel.

“Originally built in 1910, it was a shop front villa back in it’s day and has a lot of character with high ceilings, polished boards and leadlight entry,” Mr Kiritsis said.

“While the home still has many of its character features, the current owners have done a complete renovation including a full extension, new master suite with walk in robe and ensuite as well as new bathroom and restored facade.

“So far we’ve had over 150 groups go through and given the renovations, yard size and home buyer offers available we are mainly seeing families coming through and a few executive couples.”
