SUCCESSFUL multi-business owner Avi Khan has been clear in his ambition since joining Ray White almost five years ago to chase growth and not let any opportunities pass him by.
The Brisbane-based real estate agent and former lawyer decided to pursue his dream of working in the property sector less than eight years ago and he now owns five fast growing businesses in Brisbane - including Ray White Marsden, Ray White AKG and Ray White Daisy Hill. He’s now just merged with Ray White Brookwater and Greater Springfield and he’s also bought the Ray White Eight Mile Plains’ rent roll into the AKG fold.
He also owns two property law firms, a Loan Market brokerage and manages an offshore sales support team.
He’s built very high performing teams in a short space of time and is committed to his whole team having a growth mind-set.
“We have welcomed with open arms 16 new staff members, including Jonathan McMahon and Paul Kowton. We have merged with Brookwater and Greater Springfield and now have Eight Mile Plains’ rent roll in our group - this is AKG going greater!” Mr Khan said.
The respective business owners Jonathan McMahon and Paul Kowton will stay on with Avi Khan as associate directors and Mr Khan couldn't be more excited about this.
“We want to create more leaders and what better way to do this than to have two great leaders join us. We now have one of the biggest rent rolls in the Ray White Group, and more than 100 staff in total and service Brisbane’s south and Greater Springfield in Ipswich,” Mr Khan said.
“This new growth phase is something that takes us to new heights. We are having fun and building careers here but of course I will always be on the lookout for more mergers and acquisitions in 2023.”
Ray White Property Management CEO Emily Sim congratulated Avi Khan on now having one of the fastest growing rent rolls in Queensland.
“AKG has grown from zero to 1000 managements in just three years. This merger doubles their client base and grows their network dramatically,” Ms Sim said.
“His landlords are mainly Victorian and New South Wales investors, so the national footprint of Ray White and the quality of the brand across borders demonstrates the value of being the national market leader.”
Ray White Managing Director Dan White said Avi Khan was to be congratulated for building a remarkably diverse business that creates enormous opportunities for his team and clients.
“There is not a leader more curious and ambitious than Avi. He is relentless at questioning how he can keep developing himself and his team, and he has no finish line. We are very fortunate to be part of Avi's ongoing journey.”
Mr Khan said that when he opened his first business in January 2018, Ray White Group Chairman Brian White asked him: “Do you know what you want? And does your team know what you want?” Mr Khan said that was a moment of clarity for him and then he set about articulating his vision to his team.
“Everyone in my team has a growth mindset. Recruitment is crucial but I will always aim to create advocates from my staff as they are at the grassroots. I treat my staff well and they all have an abundance mentality.”
“Growth has been an enormous part of our journey so far and will continue to play a role in the future.”
