$145,000 raised and still counting
“The 2016 MND Drive was again a huge success with more than $150,000 raised in support of Motor Neurone Disease.” Ray White WA CEO, Mark Whiteman explained.
“The 2016 MND Drive was again a huge success with more than $150,000 raised in support of Motor Neurone Disease.” Ray White WA CEO, Mark Whiteman explained. “There was again a strong Ray White and Loan Market presence both on the drive and with Ray White again being the co major sponsorship for the fourth year running.”
The three day drive event kicked off at East Fremantle Oval with breakfast for the 75 strong group before sending the 22 cars off on their southwest adventure. From here they made their way down to Abbey Beach Resort, via Lake Clifton and Stirling Cottage, Harvey.
“If you ever get the chance to go to The Beer Farm in Metricup, I highly recommend it.” Loan Market State Administrator, Shelley Tetlaw advised. It was there at The Beer Farm that the group enjoyed their first dinner inclusive of live music from the talented Taylor Cutts and a very lively auction.
Waking up early on Saturday morning, it was time to “Saddle Up”. This signalled the beginning of fancy dress day for the group. After another lovely breakfast, hosted at the Busselton Men’s Shed and sponsored by Rotary, they were off once more heading for Oakway Estate Winery for lunch.
Saturday’s challenge included a scavenger hunt which took them to some interesting places including ‘Gnomesville,’ an unsettling and rather random field full of garden gnomes. Keen to get away from the affectionately nicknamed ‘Freaksville’ the group moved on, in convoy over gravel roads, to their remote dinner and accommodation at the Wellington Forrest Cottages.
The final day allowed the group to slowly make their way back up to the Bunbury Tennis Club for lunch and a final group photo showcasing the uniform for the day - blue.
“Ray White and Loan Market have been the major sponsors and contributors to MNDAWA for the past 14 and a half years, which is something we will forever be very proud of.” Mr Whiteman concluded.
State Director of Loan Market, Ken MacLennan said, “It is great to see that this event has grown so much with the people who want to be involved”. He continued, “It is such a terrible disease and seeing all these participants having so much fun whilst raising money and awareness, is just an awesome experience to be a part of.”
