Etty Bay - A Hidden Gem
Often described as one of the prettiest bays in Australia, beautiful Etty Bay is a peaceful and quiet picturesque place with very little development other than a Caravan Park, Cafe and General store and is located 15km from the township of Innisfail, 40 minutes north of Mission Beach and just over an hour from Cairns. The clean sandy beach has tropical foliage right down to the high tide mark and is a popular locals beach. Of great interest is the fact that Etty Bay is adjacent to the National Park and nearby Wet Tropics World Heritage areas
Etty Bay is home to the famous southern Cassowary who is seen patrolling the area most days with sights more common during the early morning and late afternoon. The local Cassowaries roam the area freely and often walk down the beach while swimmers splash about in the netted swimming enclosure.
