Positioned on a ridgeline overlooking the Jamberoo Valley, the 1850s State-heritage listed property at 541 Jamberoo Road, Jamberoo has undergone a recently completed multi-year extensive restoration, blending colonial architecture with contemporary luxury.

The 38-hectare property is being marketed by Ray White Gerringong sales agent Neil Campbell via private treaty.

Purchased in 2009, the homestead has been meticulously refurbished to preserve its original red cedar craftsmanship and iconic bellcast roof.

The restoration, finalised in early 2026, introduced glass-fronted living areas, a contemporary kitchen wing, and bathrooms finished in Carrara marble and limestone.

Owner Richard is selling the property following a decade-long project to secure its structural and historical integrity.

“My goal was to respect the history of this place while ensuring it would endure for another 150 years,” he said.

“I grew up on a farm in New South Wales, and always wanted to return to something like that lifestyle.

“I owned a share in a rural lifestyle property at Foxground, but wanted my own place.

“In 2009, I found the more substantial Culwalla - which offered the opportunity to farm as well as give my family a coastal life.”

Richard said he remembered first seeing the spectacular views from the property.

“I’m reminded of that impression each day by the sunrise over the coast and into the Jamberoo Valley,” he said.

The estate also includes a fully restored three-bedroom workers’ cottage and a manicured croquet lawn.

The grounds offer 360-degree views stretching from the rolling hinterland to the coast.

The landscape features ancient Moreton Bay Figs and remnant subtropical rainforest alongside a newly established English-style cottage garden.

Richard has worked overseas for more than three decades, in financial centres including Singapore, London and Hong Kong.

“Throughout these years while overseas, I retained my passion for life at Culwalla,” he said.

“My family has used this place as a weekend and holiday destination.

“We have many wonderful memories of the kids growing up here. Particularly Christmas lunch spent around long tables on the veranda.

“All my children share my love for the place.

“I come to the farm, work permitting. The greatest joy is to arrive at the airport early in the morning and then head down the highway to the farm.”

Richard said he was reluctant to sell the much-loved property, however the time has now come to downsize and let another vibrant new family create their own memories and further explore Cullwalla’s potential.

Located minutes from Jamberoo village and Kiama, the property provides total privacy without sacrificing proximity to the region’s coastal amenities.

Culwalla is protected by a State-heritage listing and a comprehensive conservation management plan, ensuring its status as a preserved piece of Australian history.
