    Crafted with more than 500 cubic metres of in-situ poured concrete, this elevated masterwork - featured on Grand Designs Australia in 2012 - is for sale.

    The property at Ocean View in Queensland is being marketed by Ray White Rural Dayboro | Eumundi sales agent Carissa Hermans via expressions of interest.

    Conceived and built by owners Brunella and Carlo Novello during the height of the Global Financial Crisis, the home Inspired by Le Corbusier and others is anything but conventional. 

    Drawing deep inspiration from traditional Italian architecture - where 40cm-thick stone walls and local creek rocks withstand centuries - the residence was designed to “merge into the contours and endure with the environment”.

    Designed to celebrate internal spaces and external views, the journey through the home is an exercise in drama. 

    The vision of Brunella and Carlo Novello was interpreted by architect Martin Chant.

    Designed to intrigue, the home intentionally delays its panoramic Glasshouse Mountains views, revealing them across grand, light-filled split levels. 

    Bold architectural cut-outs, slim glass slits, and unadorned concrete entryways add a striking, sculptural element to the build.

    Brunella said the home’s design was about the rawness and the space.

    “It is definitely not a house for everybody. Visitors are completely blown away when they arrive; they cannot believe the scale, the rawness of the build and the views," she said.

    “Over in Italy, massive buildings endure for generations because of their substance. Here, there are no concerns about fire or wind; we considered the location and the environment. It’s a home built to last and to be enjoyed.”

    Situated on a pristine, elevated north-facing plot, the property regularly hosts a local mob of wallabies with joeys in tow, alongside visiting koalas.

    For the Novello family, the sweeping acreage has provided an extraordinary playground. 

    "Our four grandsons absolutely love the spaces,” Brunella said.

    Since 2012, four generations have enjoyed the home from grandparents, the current owners, to children and their children.

    Brunella and Carlo have decided to move onto their next adventure and the time is right to hand over the keys to the next visionary owner.

    Brunella said the structure of the home incorporates commercial-grade Viridian E-Glass sliding doors and fire-safe metal insect screens.

    In particular the E-glass, the north orientation and building design maximises the heating effect of the sun in winter and shades the windows in summer providing excellent natural temperature regulation.

    A double lock-up garage connects internally alongside a large attached workshop and storage room.
