Wedding bells and turning the key in one week
For some - a wedding is all about the occasion, the flowers, the vows - but for Sarah Cain and Scott Smith it was more about finding their forever home.
For some - a wedding is all about the occasion, the flowers, the vows - but for Sarah Cain and Scott Smith it was more about finding their forever home. Even on their wedding day.
“Scott and I bought in the area around four years ago and we actually lived just around the corner from 10 Helen Street in Pennington,” Ms Cain (pictured below) explained.
“We love the area and wanted to stay here but we wanted to build or renovate to what we wanted so when this fixer-upper came up it ticked all the boxes – it was almost meant to be that we saw it the week we were getting married.
“I saw it first, then we saw it together, then Scott and his father literally dropped in on the way to the wedding ceremony for one last look.
“Scott works away so it was down to me come auction day – but fortunately – Scott was on the phone and I had his parents and my mum there with me.
“Scott and I have been looking for a while. We can't honeymoon because of international borders being closed and we weren't willing to wait once we found the house we loved.
“From our experience, it's definitely a seller's market. All the auctions we have gone to have been busy and all the open homes have been really well attended.
“We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to buy now and, in the street, where we’ve so often walked our dog.”
The $495,000 sale was successfully managed by Ray White Norwood Sales Executives Ryan Stapleton and Eliyas Alemayo.
“It's a beautiful character cottage that attracted 45 groups through during the campaign, with seven parties registering to bid on the day,” Mr Stapleton said.
“Buyer Scott and his father actually dropped into the open home when they were on their way to his own wedding and he fell in love with the property. We’re delighted for them.”
