Don't even think for a moment that the market has slowed down for Christmas - the Ray White Group has a cracking 435 auctions this weekend, with 409 of those happening this Saturday.

Ho, Ho, SOLD!
Here is a sample of what's on the block this weekend.

“Good fences make good family” is a quote mashup that suits a lot of families (sorry Mum) but is disproved by a Sydney double auction this weekend.

Two sisters have each bought apartments in a shady block of 12 at 8-12 Morton Ave, in Lewisham.

No.3 is above, and the mirror image property, No,2 is below

And not at distant ends of the building, but across the landing from each other.

No, they are not twins (that was my first question). In any event they have both decided to auction their first floor apartments on Saturday.

No. 2 at 1.30pm, and No. 3 at 2.00pm - a bit like a mini The Block auction, with matching guides of around the low $700ks.

Ray White Lewisham’s Nicholas Arena says both apartments are the same, though flipped floorplan-wise, It’s a good street, and a very nice building - with a rather odd double auction.

The reason the ladies are selling their apartments? They have just bought a house together.

Opportunity knocks - or so believes the 108 groups who have inspected this property at 51 Grand Avenue, Westmead.

Ray White Parramatta's Amit Nayak points out that the block is big enough for a duplex (STCA) or indeed one large, family home. The three bedroom home is in a good street, with all the positive amenities nearby, and smart buyers are looking past the interior pictures.

At the time of writing 37 contracts have been issued, and the agent believes a possible 12 bidders will be on the scene for the 1pm start.

And here's a special one for this season of giving. Ray White Balmain is auctioning 39 Cowper Street, Randwick - with Charles Sturt University the major beneficiary.

The university will be setting up scholarships with the funds to support disadvantaged women from the NSW Central Western Region, enabling them to study at the university.

“I don’t ever remember hearing of a bequeathment of this size from a property sale,” said listing agent Chris Williams of Ray White Balmain. “It’s not uncommon for estates to leave a percentage to charity, but to know that all the proceeds will be used to benefit some very worthwhile causes makes this a really exciting sale of which to be a part."

The three bedroom , two bathroom home has had a great makeover in preparation for the auction, which will take place at 11.30am.

Onto Queensland and the superb landmark estate known as Winbrook will be auctioned this Saturday at 2.00pm.

Situated at 119 Nelson Street, Kalinga (above) and presented by Christine Rudolph and Matt Lancashire of Ray White New Farm (see video) the five bedroom, five bathroom mansion will be keenly sought.

The list of inclusions is as long as Tim Paine's arm; full sized, flood lit tennis court, fully equipped gym, 4K theatre, bar, cellar and 12 camera CCTV. The kitchen is full kitted out including a coffee bar. The list is too long for here - see the listing or, for the vibe, the video.

Sixty groups have been through, with Ms Rudolph observing that it is a prime target for expat buyers and high net worth local buyers looking for space, and privacy. At this point of the week our elite agents are expecting four registrations.

Ray White Alderley has a stunner on the block at 10am.

Found in the beautiful suburb of Grange, this two bedroom, one bathroom home has a lot more space than those numbers would suggest and hands down wins best bedroom of the week (see below)

Ray White Alderley's Andrew Cowan (see video) has escorted 49 bidders through at the time of writing, but that will rise to 60 by auction day, and yes there are offers already on the table.

The Domain Livability stody has Grange in the top ten suburbs, and this house at 14 Daphne Street (above) is a great example of why that is.

3/69 Swinburne Street Lutwyche, front
In contrast a town home is attracting a lot of attention at 3/69 Swinburne Street, Lutwyche. Ray White Ascot Sales Agent Ian Cuneo has been watching a resurgence in the townhome market, which in part explains the good numbers through this three bedroom, two bathroom home.

He has conducted 70 inspections in just three weeks, and is betting on five bidders being at the property for the 9am auction.

Fit bidders may be arriving via the scenic draw card here, the bike track/pathway (see above) known as the Kedron Brook that is found at the rear of the property - a real wonderland that can be enjoyed by residents all day.

A mid-century maiden is on the block at 3 Marama Street, Blackburn, Victoria. One family alone has been looking after this brick veneer beauty since 1968.

On a 697sqm block the home comes from the happy time when garages were not the feature of the front facade . Ah, they were the days. The kitchen is pale lemon and black and there is but one bathroom. A throw back, but not one to be thrown out, this home is solid and will take whatever the new buyer wants to throw at it ( but one hopes the sliding glass doors into the lounge room remain).

Forty five people have been through, and three bidders have already registered their interest.

Peter Schenck of Ray White Blackburn says a property like this has a very wide appeal and he is expecting a good turn out for the 10.30am start.

Polished stone floors, and an edgy layout are two standout features of the rather delicious 19A Davis Street, Woodville. (above) in Adelaide.

Exposed brick, and imposing bulkheads add to the overall texture of this three bedroom, four bathroom home. With 62 groups through, which is a high number for Adelaide property, the outlook is good for the mid afternoon kickoff.

While harking back to the last century is this offering at 40 Kintore Avenue, Prospect.

It's 1920s and solid as a rock with the fab ceiling heights and classic formal layout with the central hall leading to the kitchen and large rear yard which includes, ta daa! A large granny flat.

Ray White Unley's Blake Sholz has had a great response with 80 groups through already and high expectations of a good auction contest between as many as ten bidders.

They'll be lining up for the starter's pistol at 12.30pm.
