Under the Hammer this weekend

For those who own an easel, and for those who wish they did, Erskineville will be a drawcard Saturday as 21 Pleasant Ave goes under the hammer.

According to agent Moira Verheijen there's lots of interest from locals and expats looking for a leafy cul de sac location to raise their families – while pursuing a life bathed in dramatic chiaroscuro.

Ray White Elizabeth Bay sales agent Renee Cross says they’ve had 70 groups through and have received a couple of pre auction offers, all of which has resulted in the guide price moving upward from $2.5 million to $2.7 million. This one kicks off at 11.00am.

With no bias whatsoever, it is just a fluke that the third Sydney home today is also an Eastern suburbs property.

Eighty parties have been through, with between 6-8 of those likely bides on the day. This is an afternoon event, which is always a little more relaxed, with a 3.00pm kick off.

Malek Younan of Ray White Gladstone Park is tipping that the auction of 175 Carrick Drive Gladstone Park as a goodie to watch on Saturday.

This is a family home, in a precinct of good and nearby schools, with the added fun of a large in-ground pool. It’s been really well cared for, which explains why so many have been through - in fact it's had 90 groups through, the majority of which have been first home buyers.

Mr Younan is expecting four bidders, lots of onlookers, and the coffee truck , all on site from 9.30am for a 10.00am start.

Talk about stark contrasts – Queensland is offering just that on Saturday.

Interest has come from downsizers from as far away as Sydney, and local interest from first home buyers. An early one under the hammer, 9am is start time here.

Same agency, but so very different is the absolutely palatial 4 Steffen Place, Aspley.

With four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a pool and lovely gardens this is one where you absolutely should look at all the pictures, as the interiors are really something.

A tip from the wise – check out the master bath room and master walk-in (there’s even a little fireplace there), gorgeous.

Ray White Aspley’s Deborah McCulloch sold the property to the current owners six years ago and is blown away with the superb renovation. She is also a fan of that master suite!

Early afternoon sees 4 Aubrey St Camp Hill go under the hammer.

In a perfect position opposite Lavarack Park, (two hectares of backyard) this spotless contemporary home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two car garaging – and oodles of interior space, with sexy black detailing and high ceilings.

Jose Peralta, from Ray White Carina has done a great job with this property and will be taking names and numbers for the 1pm auction.

On the coast not far from Adelaide's CBD is the lovely area of Brighton. Ray White Port Adelaide agent Nick Psaros says of the 35 groups who have been through the 4 Almond Grove, there has been a wide range of plans discussed; part reno and rent (a la land bank), site development and also complete renovation.

It's a good street with some exceptional homes for inspiration, and Mr Pssaros is confident that he has a half dozen bidders ready to take to the starting blacks at 11.30am

And finally today, a glimpse of fine architectural design in Canberra - is it wrong to fall in love with a deck?

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and lots of modern opens spaces, but for me its the way the deck, the house and nature merge into one lovely place in which to while away the hours in peaceful pursuits. Sigh.

Ray White Canberra's Micky Jacobs reports 150 groups have similarly fallen under spell of 8 Dugdale Street in Cook, with a handful of hopefuls expected at the 11.30am auction.
