RAY White Forest Hill sales consultant Chris Dods is using Melbourne’s footy finals fever to his advantage by scheduling the auction of 3 Highbury St, Balwyn North for this Saturday at 10.30am.

The experienced real estate professional is one of less than ten Ray White Victorian sales agents to have listed a property to go under the hammer on AFL grand final day.

Mr Dods said a short campaign meant the auction date fell on Melbourne’s biggest day of the year.

“I wanted to try something different,” he said.

“A lot of interest is from Chinese buyers who aren’t necessarily following the football, and the school zone this property is in attracts predominately the Chinese community. Why not hold the auction on grand final day morning and hopefully draw a large crowd?”

Mr Dods sold the same property just two years ago, when there was a house on the now vacant land (above).

He’s hoping for a similar price under the hammer, and has listed the 772sq m block with an indicative selling price of $2 million to $2.2 million.

“My boss said I can wear my footy scarf,” Mr Dods laughed.

“I barrack for Carlton but I’m also a Melbourne Storm fan.”

For the first time in more than 70 years, a grand old Victorian house (above) in a prime Bondi Junction location is going under the hammer at 12.45pm.

The classic character home at 2 Council St has been passed down through generations of the same family.

“It’s a spectacular house,” Ray White Woollahra’s Clay Brodie said.

“Families love the character of the home while the potential for developers is large. The location is a huge plus for everyone.”

The deceased estate is going to auction with a price guide of $2 million to $2.2 million.

Still in Sydney where Ray White Drummoyne’s Chris Wilkins is taking a boutique townhouse, designed for over-55s, to auction at 10am.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home (above) at 3/40 Tyler Crescent, Abbotsford has a price guide of $1.18 million.

“It’s in a small block of four, really peaceful, quiet living and well located,” Mr Wilkins said.

In Brisbane at 3pm, a home listed by Ray White Coorparoo’s Mel Christie is available to buy for the first time in 63 years.

The 810sq m property (above) at 107 Grosvenor St, Morningside is north-facing across two lots.

“The owners paid between two and three thousand pounds for the property 63 years ago,” Ms Christie said.

“The house was on the site but has been modified since and may not even be the same house originally built on the block in the early 1900s as aerial images show from town planner investigations.”

Ms Christie said developers and private buyers looking to split the block and build two homes had shown most interest during the auction campaign.

“With clever design, the new dwellings will have full city skyline views from six metres off the ground,” she said.

“The block is zoned LMR 2-3 so there is the option to build townhouses or units also.”

If you’re after an escape from the big smoke, a 72.12ha Queensland oceanfront property is going under the hammer at 11am.

Close to Bundaberg, in between the coastal communities of Elliott Heads and Woodgate, is the beachfront settlement of Coonarr.

Coonarr Beach is an undeveloped 4.2km long white sandy beach stretching from the mouth of Elliott River to the smaller mouth of Coonarr Creek.

This rural zoned parcel of land (above) with ocean reserve frontage has direct access to the beach across the state reserve with tracks leading to Coonarr Creek.

Ray White Bundaberg City’s Tania Bunyan is taking the property to auction, in-room, at 4A Targo St, Bundaberg.

"It's just an outstanding unique property," Ms Bunyan said.

"We've got a whole range of buyers interested, locals and those interstate. Some are looking at longer term development and others are looking at creating a beautiful home or a retreat."
