‘Eliana’, a 1930s-builtTudor style residence in an exclusive precinct of Frankston on Melbourne’s bayside, has been sold for a record street price of $1,455,000.
The grand five-bedroom, four bathroom home on a 1049 sqm block at 69 Gould Street, Frankston, was sold to a young family relocating from Oakleigh by Ray White Frankston's Ashley Weston.
Mr Weston, who has sold more than 100 homes in the Frankston area over the past 12 months, said there was strong interest in the Gould St mansion which backs onto Kananook Creek on Long Island.
“One side of Gould St is beachfront and homes on the other side of the road back onto the creek and this is easily a record price for the creekside of Gould St, eclipsing the previous best by exactly $205,000,” he said.
“We had a total of 24,126 internet views and 207 enquiries for the property. The owner did not want open for inspections or lots of private inspections so therefore I personally qualified every one of the 207 enquiries.
“The happy purchasers are a young family from Oakleigh who were seeking a sea change.”
Mr Weston said 69 Gould St has been lovingly maintained and is an outstanding showpiece of Long Island's early wealth with seemingly endless living space and stately old world décor.
“The three level property, which also features a self-contained guest house, has been enhanced and extended since its beginnings in the 1930s,” he said.
“It offers a privileged life of luxury, while a nearby bridge crossing over Kananook Creek takes you right into Frankston's heart with its endless shopping, fabulous range of cuisine, theatre, cinemas and bars.
“Set behind tall gates on a large allotment, the home is filled with stunning period features including polished floorboards, high decorative ceilings, sash cedar windows, plate rails, two open fireplaces, chandeliers and numerous delightful outdoor entertaining options.”
