"As someone who has been in the property management industry for over 26 years, I’ve always taken pride in building strong, trusting relationships with investors.

This week, I had a moment that truly reminded me why I love what I do. Hayden, one of our rising stars in the sales team, surprised me with a bottle of whiskey, a thoughtful gesture that left me both humbled and proud.

Hayden recently secured a listing after going up against agents from other agencies. What made the difference? The investor chose to list with Hayden because of their experience working with me as their property manager.

To know that my commitment to providing the best service helped influence such a significant decision is incredibly rewarding. It also highlights the incredible synergy we have as a team at Ray White.

When property management and sales work hand in hand, it creates a seamless experience for our clients, and this is a perfect example of that in action. As a business, we sell over 70 per cent of our listings internally, which speaks volumes about the relationships we build and the pride we take in our work.

It’s moments like this that reinforce why I love being part of this team. This success is a team effort, and I’m so proud to be part of it!"

What are some tips and advice for PM and sales teams working together?

Form genuine personal relationship with the sales team and property management team. It is important to trust each other so that we can have confidence in recommending a PM or sales agent. Work functions are great events to get to know the team personally.

What do you love about being a property manager?

I love many aspects of being a PM. I enjoy building strong relationships of trust and I enjoy making our clients experience seamless and problem free. I love the "can do attitude" of property managers and I also love the challenges involved in dealing with different personalities. I enjoy changing a client's bad experience into a positive experience.

What are some ways PMs can go the extra mile for their clients?

Always be honest. Know your stuff; knowledge is power. Whether it is legislation, dealing with maintenance and renovations, you will always gain people's respect when you know what you are doing.
