MATT Lancashire, the number one selling principal in Ray White’s Queensland network, was humbled that businessman Mark Bouris called on him to appear on his new hit reality TV show called The Mentor.The first of Seven’s new seven part reality makeover series The Mentor which aired recently centred on a family real estate agency in Moreton Bay.“I felt humbled that Mark Bouris asked me out of the 12,000 agents in Queensland,” said Mr Lancashire, principal of Ray White New Farm.“Mark’s got the runs on the board and we really connected too. Mr Bouris labelled the home-based real estate agency called Ubiquitous Realty as “Australia’s worst real estate agents”.“They have dreadful marketing materials and no leadership,” Mr Bouris said at the start of the show.Mr Bouris, best known for four seasons of The Celebrity Apprentice, fronts this new format cementing Australia’s love affair with TV makeovers.The real estate company was named Ubiquitous Realty after 26-year-old daughter Stephanie Lisch, a former teacher, heard it on Sunrise. Mr Bouris ended up rebranding the business to Moreton Bay Real Estate after doing local market research.The family was struggling after losing ‘millions’ in the global financial market and had only earned $40,000 combined income from their agency in 18 months.Mr Bouris asked Mr Lancashire to offer advice given he was one of the country's leading agents and the top selling principal in Ray White's Queensland network.“I would like to pick your brain and get you to share with them some of the things that help you do as well as you do,” Mr Bouris said.Mr Lancashire told the family that training was crucial for his teams at Ray White New Farm and Spring Hill.“We do four training sessions a week. We have a huge amount of training across our businesses as we want our people to be the best that they can possibly be,” Mr Lancashire said.“You need to look good, you need to smell good and you need to know everything about your marketplace. We practise our listing presentations, film them and review them.Since filming ended in February, the Moreton Bay agents have been driving 50 minutes each way twice a week to training sessions with the Ray White New Farm team."I have been coaching them almost daily on the phone too. Recently Stephanie was struggling to get a deal together and after I gave her some advice, and she sealed the transaction within 24 hours. I am happy to help and so glad they see major value in our training."Mr Bouris reminded the Ubiquitous Realty team that “quality businesses have good training programs to ensure all the participants are skilled enough to do the job".Mr Lancashire told the Lisch family to always have empathy and to be proud of every transaction.“I told them that they needed discipline and structure around their roles,” Mr Lancashire said.“Agents need to listen to their clients wants and needs, and their objective needs to be your objective."The Mentor airs on Mondays at 9pm on Seven.
