The Friday Pocket Homestead’ located at lot 520, Friday Pocket Road, El Arish, in the Mission Beach Hinterland is on the market for the first time since the wholesale produce business was moved to the premises.

Ray White Mission Beach agent Melissa Thurgood is marketing the property with a price guide of offers over $1.5million.

Owners Scott and Kate Taudevin own wholesale produce business ‘Pocket Produce’ and also a retail storefront, 'The Pocket', on the property which has boomed since opening.

The potential buyer has the opportunity to buy the property as well as the existing business which is also a feature of the official Mission Beach tourism website.

Pocket Produce is the only wholesale supplier of fruit and vegetables between Cairns and Townsville, providing fresh produce to restaurants, cafes, hospitals, nursing homes, resorts and local islands.

But, according to Kate, the most exciting part of the business is the success of the new shop, The Pocket, which has huge potential for growth.

“The potential for it to get bigger is limitless. It’s an exciting little thing, this shop,” said Kate, who added that since opening the shop in early 2015, no marketing or advertising has been done except for Facebook and word of mouth.

“With more marketing I think this shopfront could be so successful,” she said.

She added that the wholesale business is a key contributor to the success of the shop.

“The beauty of The Pocket is that all of the produce is rotated daily through the wholesale business, ensuring everything in the shop is as fresh as it possibly could be.”

The pair’s idea was that they would start growing their own local produce on the property. According to Kate it would be madness for the future owner not to take advantage of this.

Unfortunately they have decided that now is the right time for them to walk away because Scott is a restless farmer who is looking to return to farming and crop growing. The couple hope to relocate to the Atherton Tablelands along with their horses and cattle.

A freshwater creek runs through the 42 acre property, separating the homestead and home paddocks from the commercial and business operations.

“It is a nice setup for someone who wants to live and work off their own place,” said Kate. “The house sits in its own little pocket of privacy and beauty with rainforest around it.”

Kate and Scott said they will continue to develop and expand the business until it sells, with the shopfront currently undergoing landscaping for an outdoor seating area.

The shop is proud to sell local and homegrown products including locally roasted barista made takeaway coffee, dairy products, chocolate, chilli products, pickles, plus baked goods - all homemade locally.

The pair have lived in the owner built house for almost four years, with features they will miss including a breezeway which connects the master bedroom to the main house, black butt timber flooring and the open plan living with bi-fold doors which bring the outside in 365 days a year.
