In addition to getting a kitchen ready to be shown by the end of the week, all couples have to renovate a laundry as well - with some teams doing even more than that.
Newlyweds Josh and Jenna are attempting to keep their house "minimalist" so that their auction results are the best at the end of the competition. While they are supervising a kitchen installation and a laundry renovation, they are also looking to re-do their formal living space.
While they received mixed reviews for their living room, they at least were able to make quick changes if they had to, as their furniture choices were not sourcing the best feedback. The lack of art was also a problem - both issues requiring an easy fix, as opposed to changing the paint colour.
Mum and dad duo Phil and Amity are undertaking a massive project, as they are not only building a kitchen, but installing a mezzanine in the kitchen area - that is in addition to putting a second bathroom in with their laundry.
That's all in the name of making their piece of real estate the most attractive come auction day.
This has been a particularly hard week for tradie mates Mark and Duncan, with Mark leaving the competition as a result of a heart scare. As a result, Duncan was able to recruit a past contestant to assist him in finishing the house. He chose Dale from the previous series as he felt compatible after seeing Dale's wacky sense of humour from last year.
Duncan was able to negotiate a way to modify a chimney in the kitchen to include a feature piece he'd thought of back at the beginning of the competition. As per heritage guidelines, the federation stove at the base of the chimney could not be removed. Duncan decided to create a fish tank, with the stove as the centrepiece.
Dan and Dani have been pulling out all the stops for their kitchen this year. As Dani has become quite well known for second guessing herself, designing the kitchen took hours to finalise. They ran into a spot of bother with their laundry, as their head builder could not agree with the site foreman as to whether the room had to be wet sealed.
