With a background in sales, Mr Gupta was like a fish to water when it came to real estate.

After moving to Adelaide from China in 2017, where he had worked selling diamonds and jewellery, Mr Gupta got his first job at Ray White as a sales associate in 2019.

“It took me six months to find a job in real estate and I was knocked back by almost every real estate agency I applied to, which unfortunately had a lot to do with me being a new immigrant who had minimal professional credentials in the Australian workplace.” Mr Gupta said.

“I was on the verge of giving up on my desire to get into real estate but a chance meeting with Ray White South Australia CEO Matt Lindblom at a job interview changed everything.

“After first impressions, Matt shared my details with his colleague Bianca Denham who immediately provided massive support and kept referring me to different Ray White offices who were potentially looking for associates, all whilst mentoring me for months until I landed my first job at Ray White.”

In six months time he became a lead agent, focusing on the Modbury area, and reached Premier status in the first year, and Elite status in 2022.

Mr Gupta is now the top selling agent in Modbury North, Valley View, Para Vista and Modbury Heights.

“I received tremendous support from my wife Akshata who did not let my ambition die, which I am incredibly thankful for,” he said.

“I worked really hard and went with the flow and I didn’t really have reason to believe I’d become Premier or Elite or a business owner, but it just kept happening and here we are.

“Sales is what I know and what I’m good at. Ever since I started as a lead agent, I have been the top selling agent in the Modbury area.

“I am passionate about sales and I didn’t start prospecting randomly, I have always been very focussed on my area.

“Being the top selling agent in a large area like Modbury is a feat not many people have to their names.”

Mr Gupta said he was honoured to be able to open his own business under the Ray White brand.

“I have always received amazing support from the Ray White corporate team,” he said.

“The Ray White brand is the largest in Australasia and I’ve come to realise it doesn’t get better than this.”

In the first 12 months, Mr Gupta said he’d like to continue to grow his team and his market share.

“Right now, in the suburb I’m focused on, I have a 20 per cent market share off my own back, so I’d like to grow both a sales and property management team and increase our market share.”

Mr Gupta said he was very proud to be the first principal from India for Ray White in South Australia.

“I hope that this will have a positive impact on how new immigrants are perceived professionally across the industry and hopefully things will not be as hard for the next Mohit as they were for me,” he said.

Ray White South Australia CEO Matt Lindblom said he was excited for Mr Gupta to launch Ray White Modbury.

“Mohit has been a very valuable and hard working member of the Ray White South Australia team as a salesperson,” Mr Lindblom said.

“Now, I look forward to Mohit continuing to excel and seeing everything he can achieve as a business owner and market leader at Ray White Modbury.”
