THIS much loved family home in Yamba, the idyllic coastal lifestyle spot in northern New South Wales, is on the market for the first time in almost 40 years.

The home of Bill and May Molesworth at 1 Church St had been the holiday destination for their four siblings and 11 grandchildren for many years who would arrive from Ballarat, Glen Innes, Armidale, Brisbane and Sydney.

The stunning four bedroom, three bathroom residence is a family-sized beach house within a short walk to beaches – both patrolled and dog-friendly – as well as cafes, restaurants and the famous Pacific Hotel.

The home called Atherstone had been the scene of many indulgent, joyful, family-loving Christmas dinners for the Molesworth family.

Daughter Pip Cook of Armidale said her childhood home was a happy one that had provided so many treasured memories of family occasions and wonderful relaxation that comes from a seaside holiday in beautiful Yamba.

‘So many memories of drinks with friends, dinners on hot nights on the deck and even Atherstone’s generous spaces have played host to a 21st birthday party, an engagement party, a family wedding, the 60th wedding anniversary party for Bill and May,” Ms Cook said.

“It is the quintessential family home in the quintessential family town.

“I have had many fond memories in this large family home. For decades we have managed to fit our entire family in this house to celebrate Christmas and the holidays.”

Sister Susie Lobban said her favourite memory was having a shandie (beer and lemonade) on the deck with fresh bread rolls after a swim. “We would have lunch on the verandah with all our friends and family after a morning at the beach.”

Ray White Yamba owner Daniel Kelly said Atherstone was classic Queenslander style residence was set to attract interest from far and wide from those looking for a sea-change.

“After being owned by the Molesworth family since 1981, the owners have given very clear instructions to sell now,” he said, of the home that will go to auction on-site on January 27.

“Atherstone is a lot of things, but they all add up to what is a very grand take on a quintessential beach house.

“Relevant sales in the area suggest the value of the property should sit somewhere above $1 million.”

Yamba is an increasingly popular holiday destination, as well as one of the most spectacular strips of coastline found anywhere in this country. The sensational laid back Yamba in northern NSW is a truly remarkable lifestyle proposition.

Yamba is just 3 hours to the Brisbane CBD (even less by 2020 when the highway is finished), 2 hours to the Gold Coast, and 8 hours from Sydney (or just a 1 hour flight).

“Atherstone is a home of graciousness, spaciousness, and convenience, with the very best that Yamba has to offer being just minutes from your front door. Immersed in style and offering an abundance of space, this is a home that is fit for the largest of family holidays,” Mr Kelly said.

“If you are looking for character, style, size and convenience, but a location with all the glitz and glamour of a trendy and busy Byron Bay or Gold Coast beach please look elsewhere as stylish and charming, Yamba is the complete opposite.

‘Unpretentious, quiet, and relaxed within a stunning unique coastline best sums up beautiful Yamba.

“The safe town retires early, sleeps soundly, and wakes early, and flatly refuses to move at any pace but its own.

“Situated right at the mouth of the mighty Clarence River, the biggest river on Australia’s east coast, and surrounded by Yuraygir National Park and fertile rural land, Yamba is famous for hot fishing, seafood, and unknown to many, its perfect climate.”

The surfing beaches are legendary, none more so than the revered Angourie Point break. However, there are also safe child friendly beaches for families. Picture postcard pretty, this is an idyllic family holiday destination at any time of the year.

A glimpse of the ocean and the sound of the waves rolling into shore can be enjoyed from your back deck. Long slow lunches after a full morning of water activities with family and friends are the go here.

Atherstone at beautiful Yamba has a timeless quality as it was a hundred years ago – and you’re living right on this picturesque coastal strip.
