Chris Gooch of Ray White Garvin and Cousens in Tamworth has won the 2014 NSW young auctioneers competition.
Held at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Australian Livestock & Property Agents (ALPA) Young Auctioneers competition is held between the top 10 livestock auctioneers in the state.
“As a livestock lifestyle auctioneer, this is really the ultimate goal and It’s an honour to hold the title,” Chris said.
The competition require contestants to sell three individual steers to showcase their selling abilities and vie for the title.
Winning the state level award gives Chris the opportunity to compete in the national titles in 2015. Ray White Garvin and Cousens are no stranger to the competition with principal, Andrew, Warden, taking out the national title five years ago.
“This award firmly establishes Chris as a leading livestock auctioneer in Australia. It’s great award to win and a compliment to the office.
“Chris is an excellent auctioneer and I’m very proud of him - as was his family who were all there to watch.
“These are very competitive awards and to win represents the fact that our young people are mentored so well. It’s a good source of attraction for young agents to join our organisation,” Paul White, joint chairman of Ray White, said.
For Chris, he’s already beginning to prepare for the national competition in 2015.
“I’ll spend the year fine tuning and selling as much as I can to improve - hopefully I’ll be able to take the next step up and win the national title,” Chris concludes.
This is the second major award that Ray White Rural have won in six months, with Ben Redfern of Ray White Emms Mooney taking out the coveted ALPA and Fairfax Agricultural Media Marketing Award in October 2013.
