In fact this was the second busiest week of the year, with Ray White conducting 29 per cent (904) of this week’s 3133 auctions nationally in total.

This week’s volume was 34 per cent higher than the same week last year.

The Ray White Group recorded an average of 3.8 registered bidders and 2.5 active bidders per auction today. The group recorded a preliminary clearance rate of 70 per cent.

The top result of the day went to Ray White Maroochydore agent Pam Thomas who sold 1002/100 Duporth Ave, Maroochydore under the hammer for $3.75 million.

The property is owned by Olympic gold medallist Debbie Flintoff-King and her husband Phil King. The Melbourne-based couple today sold their holiday home as they plan on upgrading to a new luxury apartment in the same suburb.

Ms Flintoff-King actually filmed an advertisement for Ray White some 34 years ago after she won gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The ad was called 'Go for Sold'

The auction with the top registered bidders for the day, with a whopping 19 bidders, was in Adelaide where Ray White Glenelg lead agent Christopher Jenman sold 30 Struan Ave, Warradale sold under the hammer for $1.405 million.

Ray White NSW state auctioneer Perry Edmondson-Clark said there was plenty of action at auctions across Sydney today.

“There’s no sign of a slow down across the Sydney market today, strong buyer numbers and clearance rates reported. Deals however did require a little bit of massaging, movement from both buyer and seller to complete the transaction under auction conditions,” he said. “Stock remains consistent and we continue to expect properties to come to the market each week right through until the end of the year. “

Ray White Victoria Chief Auctioneer Jeremy Tyrell said auction volume continues to build momentum as sellers rush to capitalise on current market demand before the festive break.

“This week, the Ray White Victoria and Tasmania network had 254 auctions scheduled with the clearance rate once again above seventy percent at 74.4 per cent,” he said.

“In what is an increasing trend, more than 10 per cent of the scheduled auctions didn't make it to auction day as some sellers were tempted with strong pre-auction offers from keen buyers wanting to secure their dream home.

Olympic gold medallist Debbie Flintoff-King and her husband Phil King today sold their Sunshine Coast holiday home after upgrading to a new luxury apartment in the same suburb.

The Melbourne-based athlete and her coach husband today auctioned their Maroochydore apartment on the edge of the Maroochy River.

Ray White Maroochydore agent Pam Thomas marketed the property and it was sold to a family from Noosa who were planning to move closer to their children’s school.

Ms Flintoff-King made headlines when she took home the gold medal for the women’s 400m hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

“It’s a beautiful apartment, we have loved it,” Ms Flintoff-King said. “The only reason that we’re moving is to get a slightly bigger apartment to cater for grandkids so they can come up and have a good holiday as well.”

In a beautiful connection, Ms Flintoff-King actually filmed an advertisement for Ray White 34 years ago called 'Go for Sold'.

“After winning in Seoul my manager got me a sponsorship to do an ad for Ray White,” she said. “The major sponsorship I got from winning in Seoul was from Ray White.”

“It was a cracking auction. My sellers are happy, they are a lovely young couple who bought the house when they were pregnant with their first child and now they have two kids, so they are upgrading to a house in Ashgrove. The house is very sentimental and they have loved the area. The buyers are local investors,” Ms McDonald said.

Earlier in the week, Ray White Collective held its Auction Under The Stars event and the powerhouse team sold $19 million worth of property across 24 properties.

The auction event sold 70 per cent of its stock, and Ray White Collective principal and chief auctioneer Haesley Cush said “the units went nuts”.

The unit at 4/190 Moray St, New Farm sold for $582,000, while 4/28 Hazlewood St, New Farm sold for $535,500.

“We had a crazy amount of fierce bidding for these one and two bedders in New Farm - there was such momentum in the bidding for the units with multiple registered bidders. In fact the interest in units is that strong that we are going to hold a unit-only auction event on December 14," Mr Cush said.

“There’s simply not enough supply and many people cannot afford to buy houses, plus the January rents are looking hectic.

“There is always a seasonal bump in rentals in January, and many tenants are already offering to pay over and above the current price. We are still getting around 80 applications per property and no buyers seem too worried about rising rates either. We have seen any distress sales, especially with such a waiting pool of buyers.”

“Prestige properties are still active and anything finished, and already renovated.”

Ray White South Australia chief auctioneer John Morris said the bidder numbers may have dropped slightly down to just below six, with three of those participating at the auction.

“Bu we are still selling a huge amount of properties on auction day. And the statistics are telling us that if you take your property to auction with the right agent, you have an 82.6 per cent chance of selling and that's just from this week alone,” Mr Morris said.

“Last week's numbers were very, very strong again with 79.2 per cent sold within Ray White, whereas CoreLogic reported 74.8 per cent. That might not be a huge amount of difference but that does mean you have an increased chance of selling if you use a Ray White agent.

“Now there are 177 auctions scheduled this week throughout South Australia with 83 of those being Ray White. We are the competition creators, without a doubt, we list more auctions and we sell more auctions than that of our collective competition.”
