Ray White Sherwood|Centenary sold more than $14.3 million in property as part of their in-room auction event in Graceville last night.
The auction event saw 13 properties up for grabs, and with three properties sold prior to auction, and nine properties sold under the hammer on the night, the group saw an incredible clearance rate of 92.3 per cent.
Ray White Sherwood principal Cameron Crouch said the event saw a total of 60 registered bidders all trying to secure a property during the first month of the year.
"From our first weekend on January 5, we’ve seen buyer numbers increase week on week, with activity up dramatically compared to last year,” Mr Crouch said.
“Buyers have entered the new year ready to purchase, with strong expectations that market prices will rise this year, faster than we’ve seen in a long time, and are keen to secure property ahead of that growth.
“We’ve seen exceptionally high bidder numbers, and last night clearly demonstrated just how fierce the competition is.”
The top result was for 15 Vivian Street, Tennyson, which sold under the hammer for $2.515 million, a great result for the sellers and Ray White Sherwood agents Douglas May and Shakimra Gordon.
Another standout auction was for 28 Morcom Avenue, Corinda which was marketed by Ray White Sherwood agent Jackson Evenden.
The auction saw seven registered bidders and five active bidders battling it out for the three-bedroom home.
A Brisbane couple expecting their third child in April were the winning bidders.
Standing among a large crowd, the couple were overjoyed when their winning bid of $2,030,000 secured the flood-free property.
Around 45 bids were placed during the auction, with the first bid starting at $1,400,000.
The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, said it was by chance they had come across the home, which was on a 880sqm block.
"We live in the area already and love it, and we were after something bigger," they said.
"We weren't actively searching."
The couple said they loved the space, greenery and character of their new family home.
