Ray White Sandgate agent David Simmons is marketing the property which features six bedrooms across two levels, multiple living areas, a resort-style pool with heated spa, and a separate downstairs apartment with its own kitchen and bathroom - ideal for multi-generational living.

Built in 1895 and originally known as Rosewood, the two-storey home at 11 Lunn Street, Sandgate has been continuously owned by the McKeering family since 1897, when current owner Greg McKeering's great-grandmother acquired the property as a young girl.

The home has witnessed five generations of the McKeering family, serving various roles throughout its long history - from a party house in the 1930s to a set of flats, before current owners Greg and Rachel McKeering undertook extensive renovations.

“Our connection with this house is stronger than anyone else could have," said Mrs McKeering, who has lived in the home for 22 years.

"All Greg’s siblings were given a house each, and we put love, sweat and tears into this one."

The family's bond with the property runs deep.

The couple raised two children in the home and have hosted countless family gatherings around the pool they installed while Mrs McKeering was pregnant with her daughter Sarah.

Mrs McKeering said one of her fondest memories was delivering her granddaughter in the upstairs bathroom 12 years ago.

“We used to have lots of family parties every Christmas,” Mrs McKeering said.

“There was no pool when we moved in, we designed the pool so it would suit the kids when they were little.”

Mr McKeering, a semi-retired carpenter and builder, personally renovated the home over two decades, moving the kitchen seven times and transforming the layout to suit the family's evolving needs.

The original rosewood flooring remains intact beneath newer finishes, preserved for future owners who may wish to restore it.

“We are really going to miss this home,” Mrs McKeering said.

“I remember the old-school toilet out the back, there were holes in the floor when we first moved in, I was terrified the dog was going to fall through them!”

Now with five grandchildren, the McKeerings are making a tree change to acreage, leaving behind carefully preserved mementos for the next family - including items with their names written on the back, marking their place in the home's remarkable history.
