NSW planning and infrastructure minister Brad Hazzard has announced a new Housing and Infrastructure Delivery Office, which aims to spur on housing delivery in areas which need some urban renewal and provide information to the government about housing supply.

This new initiative will look at:

?Long-term rural and regional plans to ensure real estate growth in those areas

?Establishing a system that focuses on producing outcomes rather than processes

?Making communication between planning staff and the public much easier

Minister Hazzard said in a statement that New South Wales needs a comprehensive infrastructure delivery plan for the future.

"These reforms will ensure the community is better engaged in changes to their regions and local area with planning becoming easier to understand, more transparent and accessible online.

"A new departmental structure will help us deliver on planning priorities, respond promptly and efficiently to community and business concerns," said Hazzard.

Housing Industry Association NSW executive Director David Bare has welcomed this new plan, saying that the association will work hard to ensure a cohesive relationship with these new reforms.

"HIA supports any measures that are aimed at removing barriers and drive the delivery of the new housing supply New South Wales so desperately needs," he said.
