For the first time in 60 years, apartment 5 in the iconic Mayfair building at 6 McDonald Street in Potts Point has come to the market with Ray White Elizabeth Bay and a price guide of over $1.3 million.
Selling Principal Ian Campbell said the property is a deceased estate, and that the large three bedroom and untouched apartment is a rarity in the area.
“In the first weekend of showing, we’ve already had 50 groups of people through the property,” he said.
The last property to become available in the building was apartment 7 in 2011.
“It is one of the most elegant buildings in Potts Point, built in 1923,” he said. “It is an apartment, that is large enough to make you feel like you are in a house.”
The apartment on level three of ‘Mayfair’ was last purchased in 1952 by Jean and John Harper, John was a well known radio personality for 2KY at the time - known as ‘Gravel Voice’. The apartment has remained in the same family until now.
There are a total of 7 apartments within the Mayfair building, each with a company title, and must be owner occupied.
According to Ian, the apartment feels like you are walking back in time 50 years.
“The apartment is in a museum like state with gorgeous original features.”
