How would you like to see the glorious Murray River from every room of the house? Or wake every day to the beautiful sound of butcher birds singing? All the while living on an island?

Well, that is exactly what is on offer at the magnificent river oasis that is Lot 14, Paisley Island. This stunning property – just 90 Minutes from Adelaide CBD by car – is going to auction.

“In 1992 I got a phone call from my mate telling me the guy next door was selling his property and asked if I wanted to take a look at it – I didn’t hesitate and went there pretty much straight away,” said the homebuilder and homeowner.

“I took my father, who was visiting from Poland at the time, and what we saw was this shack sat on the banks of the river on the front block.

“I turned to my father and asked his opinion and his advice was to close my eyes, put my hand in my pocket and just buy it, so that’s exactly what I did.

“After that, I purchased the back block and then the end block, and that gave us three blocks on the one title to play with.

“The wildlife here is truly stunning. You can sit on the deck, have a coffee and watch the swans swim by or feed the pet goose, Lucy.

“Also, because we have the three end blocks of the island, there’s no through traffic so the peace and serenity is wonderful.

“The sun rises and sets against the cliffs and you can watch the boats and watercraft go past all day long.

“But my wife and I are in our 70’s now, and this is a property suited to a younger generation, so it’s time for our next chapter in life.”

The owner recalled how he used to work for an architect in Sydney, and after all the planning, he built the property by himself over two years.

“We wanted something that was very homely and practical. The way we designed it was so wherever you are in the house, you can see the water, from any room.,” he said.

“My wife and I have different tastes in TV shows so we built a ‘Gold Class’ cinema room on the lower level so we can both enjoy what we like at the same time. And with NBN, that of course, is made for easier streaming of shows.

“It’s also incredibly secure – a private island that’s accessible only by an electric gate – so no-one other than residents can gain access here.

“The community is also special here. There are 28 lots on the island and we all have open fires – so in winter – we used to go from fire to fire catching up with all our neighbours.

“This place really is something special. From the big river gum trees, some of which are over, 100 years old to the picturesque outlook. It saddens us to leave but we look forward to new owners creating their own memories here.”

Ray White Barossa Valley I Two Wells Principal Darren Pratt said the property was a great opportunity to capitalize on an amazing river outlook on the water’s edge.

“This home is an absolutely immaculate, architecturally designed home that’s a true credit to the owners who designed and built it,” Mr Pratt said.

“Comprising four spacious bedrooms, the master bedroom is a delight, with a built-in robe, an ensuite bathroom featuring a shower, vanity and direct access onto the deck wrapping around to the main entertainment area.

“The sparkling main bathroom is centrally located for ease of access from all guests with a shower/bath, vanity and toilet and the laundry is located adjacent.

“The kitchen is positioned to make the most of the magical river views bringing the serenity of the river inside.

“The cooking zone has all the modern conveniences such as stainless-steel appliances including a dishwasher and a built-in pantry.

The spacious open-plan living/dining area extends to the decked outdoor entertaining area, for all-weather entertaining.

“The morning sun welcomes you as you step outside to enjoy your morning coffee and kick-start your day. This is the hub of the home and is a great place to unwind and watch the water activities and absorb those views.

“Heating and cooling are assured all year round with four split system air conditioners and slow combustion heating.

“The grounds are spacious and spectacular with lush green lawns reaching from the deck down to the water's edge.

“Extensive shedding provides plenty of undercover storage for caravans, cars and watercraft and on the river's edge, you have your very own new jetty and plenty of room for mooring your watercraft.

“This really is an amazing offering and possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to secure such a property.”
