SOUL of Gerringong - the coastal chic luxe holiday accommodation - has just been sold for more than its guide of $4 million.
Soul, owned by Sydney-based builder and interior design team Ben and Simone Mathews, is well known in high end travel circles for its attention to detail.
Ray White Gerringong agent Neil Campbell and Ray White Double Bay founder Craig Pontey sold this bespoke guesthouse at 143 Belinda St, Gerringong to a Sydney-based investor.
“Soul was sold as a property and a business. The accommodation will continue as usual. Simone and Ben’s vision of restoring the property, creating a brand and a business and passing it on to the new owners has become a reality,” Mr Pontey said.
Mr Campbell said it was as a “rollercoaster campaign with auction scheduled the first week of isolation due to COVID-19”.
“The auction was cancelled and the sale put on hold. If there’s ever a time in history where you can pause a sale and not damage the campaign, it was now.”
Mr Pontey said upon the restrictions easing, the vendors chose not to auction the property nor hold any open houses, to ensure the health of the small coastal town.
“We stayed in contact with a small select group of buyers who were patient and willing to wait. After one inspection, Soul had found its new owners.”
Mr Pontey said the sale showed the interest of people wanting to move and invest out of Sydney.
“The new owners will take over the business later this year. Ben and Simone are already busy creating their latest holiday project, The Pause which will be a sponsored online video series.”
