Each year the Rotary Club of Moorleigh Moorabbin in close association with Ray White Cheltenham and Dingley Village collect gifts that are placed under a Christmas tree.
The gifts are then handed to the Salvation Army who distributes them to children in need within their community. It is a simple yet profoundly satisfying program that brings much joy to families at the festive season.
This year they’re going a whole step further and expanding the program to schools within the area.
Ray White will place a Christmas tree in each of the eight schools (including three pre-schools) involved and children and parents are invited to donate gifts that are placed under the tree. Rotary will collect the gifts late in December.
As an incentive Ray White is sponsoring a colouring competition to be held and judged across all participating schools. There will be prizes given for first, second and the most creative entry. Rotary and Ray White will judge all entries and the winning entries will be announced on December
The local newspapers will be involved and give exposure to schools with trees and/or children with winning entries.
At the final assembly, a local Ray White agent and a Rotarian will award the colouring in competition winners. First prize is a tablet from the Good Guys and other sponsors include Toyworld (Southland), Dymocks (Southland) and realestate.com. There will also be “A little ray of giving’ trees in both Cheltenham and Dingley Village offices, along with support from Bendigo Bank in Cheltenham.
