The very same lectern that featured in the $18million auction sale of the Legion Cab site this month is now making the journey from Ray White headquarters to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

The lectern and the auctioneer, James Price, caught the eye of the MCA’s Events Coordinator on the Ray White company’s facebook page. Both the iconically coloured podium and the young auctioneer will now feature at the MCA Young Ambassador, MCA Social event: a night of art, live performance and fundraising to support Primavera 2014.

Primavera is the annual exhibition run by the MCA for young Australian artists: under 35.

“I can’t wait to take my gavel and the new lectern and call auctions overlooking Circular Quay for this event,” James said.

“Any opportunity for an auctioneer to take on projects that are a little more philanthropic and altruistic is one that should be jumped at. Our relationship with the MCA is really special and I’ve had some fantastic nights at their various openings and events with the Young Ambassador programme.”

Ray White is the major partner sponsor of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Young Ambassador programme that seeks to engage the next generation of philanthropists and contemporary art enthusiasts.
