Joe Allan went from residential property management... to commercial... to industry property management... to industry sales... to team leader all with Ray White Surfers Paradise.
What were you doing before you joined Ray White Surfers Paradise?
“I was set to go to University as I had planned to study to become a Primary School Teacher however I got offered a job in property management by some family friends who had known me for quite a few years. They felt I would be a great fit for real estate. I had a trial and realised it was a really good grounding into the industry so I joined their company in Northern NSW as a Property Manager.”
At what “moment” did you realise that you were right for real estate?
“It actually kind of came out of the blue. I was set to go to the University to be a primary school teacher. I got offered a job by some family friends who had known me for years. I kind of thought about it for a few weeks and I enjoyed the trial I had. I was never going to stay in property management however I felt it was a really good grounding to the industry. I did think about getting into sales straight away when I joined Ray White Surfers Paradise however I didn't know the area well enough so I felt Property Management was a great grounding base.”
Where are you today?
“I joined Ray White Surfers Paradise nine years ago in property management and looked after large portfolios for two years. I enjoyed property management immensely however I was looking for a new challenge and I chose to move into commercial. I had always had an interest in commercial as early in my career I had done a small amount of commercial property management and I enjoyed it. After a few discussions with Gregory Bell, team leader of commercial, it worked out we didn't have an industrial division so I was a great fit for industrial leasing. After working in leasing the natural progression was into industrial sales and commercial sales and three years ago took over as Industrial Team Leader.
Towards the end of 2011 I became team leader of Yatala commercial office and Upper Coomera/Coomera Residential. I have built the Coomera office and doubled the sales team and look forward to more future challenges.”
