One of the last two story style master built homes to be built in Haberfield in the 1980s - before restrictions were placed on height - is on the market for the first time in 14 years with Ray White Sylvania Waters agents Dave Watkins and John Basa.

The almost 1,000sqm property, which itself is a large size for the area is being sold by Tony Ciancio, who intends to downsize, but remain a Haberfield local - Tony is moving all the way across the street.

According to Tony, the property was rushed to be built in the late 80s in order to avoid the incoming height restriction rules.

The architecturally designed property, originally built by local real estate agents in the area in the 80s, is a rarity in the suburb, according to Tony.

“There are not many homes available for sale in Haberfield,” he said. “People don’t leave, and neither are we.”

But, Tony did leave, for 11 years, however he admits he came back because there just isn’t anywhere better to live.

And, although there was not much around when Tony and his family first came to Haberfield, now there is plenty to do.

“An interesting fact is that there are no pubs in Haberfield,” he said, adding that there are plenty of restaurants cafes and pastry shops though.

But it still offers, peace and quiet, “sometimes you forget you’re in suburbia,” he said, “There is so much parklands around, and the bay that you almost feel as if though you are in a national park.”

The house, according to Tony is built for a big family, and offers a lot of space. Directly opposite a reserve, with the Bay Run only 700 metres away.

“It’s like a forever home,” he said, adding that the only reason he has decided to put the property on the market is because he no longer needs the space, now that his children have grown and moved on.

Selling agent Dave Watkins said this is one of the most immaculately built homes in the area in absolutely pristine condition featuring very rare park like private grounds in a lovely peaceful locality.

The property will go to auction on October 17 with a price guide of $2.5Mill+.
