Newly listed for auction on 11 December, the former home of renowned horse trainer, Frank Dalton, has hit the market with a price expectations above $3.7m.
Named after acclaimed racehorse, Monte Carlo, the North Randwick Edwardian mansion was built circa 1917.
“The name of the property comes from the 1950s when Frank Dalton owned the home - his most famous horse was called Monte Carlo.
“In 1956 Monte Carlo won both the AJC Derby at Randwick, the Victoria Derby at Flemington and ran second in the 1958 Melbourne Cup.
“In those days there were stables at the rear of the property and the horses were walked to Randwick racecourse each morning,” explains current owners, Ian and Linden Raymond.
Located on Darley Road and overlooking Centennial Park, the five bedroom home extends over three levels, with multiple living and entertaining areas.
“The property is double brick and showcases many period features, including high original patterned ceilings, traditional fireplaces, leadlight windows and picture rails,” said marketing agent, Donna Mauthner, of Ray White Double Bay.
The property at 37 Darley Road, North Randwick goes to auction on 11 December at 6.30pm.
