WINDERMERE - one of Australia’s grandest homes on the best street in Brisbane - is now officially on the market with top agents Matt Lancashire and Hamish Bowman of Ray White New Farm.

Ray White New Farm Principal Matt Lancashire said the landmark estate called Windermere at 14 Sutherland Ave, Ascot sits on the high side of established tree-lined avenue which boasts some of Brisbane’s best classic heritage homes.

Sutherland Ave is well-known for its impeccably presented homes on large and tightly held blocks of land.

“Windermere is an unrivalled family estate in the most exclusive enclave of Brisbane’s blue-chip Ascot. An extremely private acreage (4664sqm) property with a 58.4m frontage, its stately entrance conceals a six-bedroom Queenslander, north-south championship- size tennis court, swimming pool with spa, and magnificent landscaped gardens,” said the top prestige agent in Brisbane, Matt Lancashire.

“Recent renovation work, including the installation of a commercial-grade chef’s kitchen, has restored this landmark home to its former commanding glory. I would argue that this is the best kitchen in all of Brisbane, maybe Queensland.” The marble stab used in the kitchen weighs 800kgs and was a logistical feat to get it in place during the renovation.

Ray White Group Chairman Brian White said Sutherland Avenue had long been known as one of the best streets in Brisbane for its grand tightly held estates.

Mr White and wife Rosemary have owned property on this leafy avenue since October 2015.

Mr Bowman said Windermere offers 4664sqm of private land in premier pocket of blue-chip Brisbane. “This estate has a six-bedroom residence with secure triple garage, plus a north-south championship-size floodlit tennis court in the front yard yet it’s hidden from view behind the hedge,” he said.

The house has a swimming pool and spa surrounded by lush, established grounds plus a commercial-grade kitchen with Wolf, Sub-Zero, Vintec and Miele appliances.

There are almost four houses in one, with plenty of room for extended family, teenagers or an au pair.

Current owners Chris and Linda Miers have owned the cherished Windermere since mid-2014. The family is well known in the heavy haulage industry.

“We are very private people, so this house suited us down to the ground as you cannot see anything from the road,” Mr Miers said.

The Miers are downsizing to live on the river at Teneriffe with a possible international move on the horizon. Mr Miers loves the garden and takes great pride in keeping the lawn immaculate and in pristine condition.

The home boasts a guest wing with a second kitchen plus access to wine cellar that fits 1500 bottles, a sauna and a media room. There’s an office, study, formal and informal living/dining plus picture perfect outdoor entertaining gazebos, including an outdoor kitchen and never been used before wood fired pizza oven.

The estate is 12 minutes to Brisbane Airport, 16 minutes to Brisbane CBD and within the Ascot State School catchment.
