How does your usual day look?
On a normal day, I like to try and get to the office in the morning to get any admin work done and focus on calls to my pipeline, prospective tenants or buyers as well as meetings with our team to make sure we are all up to date across everything. I make sure I have a lunch break in the middle of the day so I can relax and recharge the batteries so that in the afternoon when I try and do all my meetings I am full of energy and enthusiasm when I am meeting with clients.
How did you start your career in commercial real estate?
I was previously working for a local competitor in residential real estate before being approached by Ray White Commercial which was not something I was considering at the time, but once I had met with my directors about the industry and also the opportunities that would be bestowed upon me at Ray White, it was a simple decision to make the move.
What do you enjoy most about being at Ray White Commercial? What makes Ray White Commercial different?
My favourite thing about Ray White Commercial is definitely the culture in the business which makes turning up to work every day enjoyable and helps keep a positive frame of mind when the times are tough. The support and opportunities at Ray White are like nothing I have seen before, which goes a long way to maximise success for everyone.
What are your go-to property marketing methods that you present to your clients?
I am a firm believer in making sure that every marketing campaign I present to my clients is tailored to their property’s needs. In a marketplace that our competitors are throwing in free marketing or not marketing the property at all, I am ensuring that I explain to my clients that marketing is an insurance policy to make sure as many buyers can see the property as possible. Most of my marketing is digital.
Tell me about a unique success story?
I took on a property for auction that another agent had on the market for eight months as a private sale, didn’t get any offers and had really small inspection numbers. I convinced the owner that we needed to do a full marketing campaign and advertise the property in line with what the market expectations would be. We had 23 inspections and sold it under the hammer five weeks later.
Do you auction?
I am a 100% auction first agent and I don't even take private authorities into a listing presentation as I am a firm believer that auction provides my clients with the best opportunity to create competition and drive the price up.
What’s the one thing you know now, that you wish you knew when you first started out?
To take the good with the bad and to just continue doing the right things even if they seem hard. The hard work will pay off.
What is your outlook for the Melbourne market over the next 12 months?
The Melbourne market is exciting at the moment and I expect that to continue over the next 12 months with more properties coming to the market. With interest rates being at an all time low we are seeing a high volume of enquiries on properties that are marketed correctly.
