The family home of former Powderfinger lead guitarist Darren Middleton is on the market for the first time in almost 15 years with Ray White Samford’s Brett Crompton.
The home, with a price guide over $1,395,000, was designed and built by Darren and wife Tamara, and built after the couple purchased the land in 2000.
“We stumbled across this block of land and made an offer, as soon as we saw it we thought we could build a house here that could become the ultimate hideaway,” he said.
Complete with it’s own recording studio, which has seen many demo’s including some from Powderfinger, the pair were keen to design and build a house that blended into the natural area.
“The studio is really versatile, it can be kept as a recording studio, or turned into an artist’s studio or even a granny flat,” he said.
Although they moved to Victoria about four years ago, the couple have been reluctant to sell their Wights Mountain home in the meantime.
“We took a while to make the decision to sell because we always imagined we would come back, it has been the best home life I have had in my life,” said Darren, adding that he will miss the peace and proximity to nature.
With a collection of fruit trees, olive trees a veggie garden, chook pen and horse paddocks the home offers the ideal escape lifestyle, only 25 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.
“I would almost everyday beat a path around the house to the dam and either sit by it or swim in,” he said. “I’d come home and sit on the deck overlooking the dam and the mountain backdrop.”
“After the band split, we decided to do some travelling, and for us it was the right time to live somewhere else in Australia.”
With plans to stay in Victoria until the couple’s children complete school, they felt it was the right time to sell.
Ray White selling agent Brett Crompton said it will be a while until another property like this comes up again on the market.
“I have lived in Samford Valley for most of my life and have sold real estate here for 14 years, this home is definitely one that you feel at home when you arrive. The views are amazing and your privacy is assured,” he said.
