A family home in Ferntree Gully is on the market for the first time in four decades.

Marketed through Chris Watson of Ray White Ferntree Gully, the property at 71 Helen Road has a price guide between $480,000 to $530,000.

With the properties next door for sale, Chris says there’s the potential for development.

“We have the neighbouring properties of 67 and 69 Helen Street on the market at the moment as well, so the opportunity does exist for developers to look at the site,” he explains.

The current owners, Thomas and Anna Morre purchased the home 43 years ago for $13,000.

“A very affordable price, although Thomas tells me the interest rates back then were 17 per cent which made up for the small sale price,” Chris said.

Having raised their three children in the home, Thomas and Anna are now retired and have decided to move to the country.

“Their kids are all grown now and they have two grandchildren. The time is right for them to move on,” Chris said.

Sitting on around 735m² of land, the property features three bedrooms, one bathroom and a single garage.

“It’s your standard family home and it’s served Thomas and Anna well over the years.

The property at 71 Helen Street, Ferntree Gully is for sale via private treaty.
