Those searching for commercial real estate opportunities may be interested to hear that the sod has been turned on the 1 William Street development.
Commercial real estate in Brisbane will benefit from the project, with Queensland deputy premier Jeff Seeney and minister for trade Tim Nicholls lauding the benefits the project will bring.
Mr Nicholls explained: "More than 1,000 direct jobs per year will be required on site as the development proceeds, which will also have a positive impact on indirect jobs and the overall economy."
The project will span 75,000 square metres, with the tower becoming home to a number of private retailers in addition to the Queensland Public Service.
The development will have more than 1,000 square metres for retail space, while 15,000 square metres will be reserved for the purposes of private sublease.
On what used to be a dusty car park, 1 William Street will invigorate the area, facilitating greater community use of the northern aspect of the Brisbane River.
The Queensland state government also noted that this will be the first commercial office building for the government in the Brisbane CBD since the 33 Charlotte Street facility was completed in 2004.
