THE starting gun has gone off and the year 2022 has begun.Ray White Surfers Paradise’s auction extravaganza called The Event kicked off last Sunday. It’s widely considered the bellwether event that heralds the beginning of a new year of auctions for the Ray White Group. At the mammoth event, 82 per cent of the 101 lots sold worth $68 million while another 20 luxury homes will go under the hammer on Friday night at Ray White Surfers Paradise’s prestige in-rooms at the Sheraton Mirage. There were a total of 637 registered bidders and 54 per cent of the bidders were locals, and 46 per cent from interstate. While there have been some doom and gloom murmurs of a 2022 slowdown, results from Sunday’s The Event point towards a market that is still very active and set to ramp up in the coming weeks. Results from The Event are a good omen of what’s to come this Saturday, which will include an auction event held by the Ray White Burleigh Group and Ray White Robina. The Gold Coast event will be held online, coming to viewers from The Star at Broadbeach. Ray White Queensland chief auctioneer Gavin Croft will auction off 37 lots with the standouts expected to be 82 Rio Vista Blvd, Broadbeach Waters, 2 Wanderer Ave, Mermaid Waters, 3/196c Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach and 703/ 185 Old Burleigh Rd, Broadbeach. Not to be left out, the rest of the property market has now woken up after a typically quieter Christmas and New Year period. In Sydney, there are 62 auctions scheduled for the week while in Melbourne there are further 147 properties booked for auction. There are 48 in Brisbane while in Adelaide there are 55 auctions scheduled. All up, the Ray White Group has 627 properties scheduled to go under the hammer this week, while 277 of those are booked for Saturday.
