With 2.5 registered bidders per property, there were more than 28 curious onlookers at each of our auctions which shows people are keen to see the real time price action for themselves. Ray White data shows 60 per cent of all the leading group’s auctions in Victoria sold last week, compared to 48 per cent as recorded by Domain and 48.37 per cent according to CoreLogic.
In NSW, the Ray White members sold 55 per cent of their 71 auctions last week, while in New Zealand 45 per cent sold under the hammer, and 38.7 per sold in Queensland, 71 per cent in SA, 33 per cent in Western Australia and 66.7 per cent cleared in the ACT.
The biggest sale of the week took place at Ray White Double Bay’s own auction room on New South Head Road when it’s managing director Elliott Placks sold the unusual curved home at 15 Rosemont Ave, Woollahra under the hammer of auctioneer James Keenan for $8.375M in front of 50 people with three registered bidders.
Bidding on the exciting auction kicked off at $7M for the two level mansion which was bought by the former media mogul Kerry Packer in 1965 for £36,000 and made available to his family and friends to use as they needed.
The six bedroom house with a pool was known as ‘grace and favour’ was sold by Elliott Placks on behalf of James Packer.
This two-bedroom terrace on 68 Renwick St in Redfern also sold under the hammer for $905,000. Selling Kieran Gianoudis of Ray White Surry Hills said the price point was “appealing to each buyer in the market” with investors and first home buyers all vying for the keys to the house.
The biggest crowd of the week was to be found when more than 150 turned out to watch the on site auction of 28 Johnstone Road, Oaklands Park which Ray White Adelaide Group sold for $635,000 under the hammer. The original family home was ripe for redevelopment or renovation.
