A property which shares a street with former prime minister John Howard and was the original home of Ted Hopkins, the man who established Luna Park in Sydney, is on the market.
The property at 15 Milner Crescent Wollstonecraft is going to auction through Danny Grant of Ray White Lower North Shore and has price expectations of $1.7m.
“This home has been in the same family for 75 years.
“The original owner, Ted Hopkins, operated Luna Park in Adelaide. After the Sydney Harbour Bridge was completed, Ted moved to Sydney and brought Luna Park with him.
“He chose this house so he could be close to his work and his family has stayed here for three quarters of a century,” Danny said.
Sitting on 800m² of land with two street frontages, the bungalow features four bedrooms, one bathroom and parking for three cars.
“This is one of the few remaining unrenovated homes on the street and there’s huge potential for a redesign or development, as it’s currently free from heritage or conservation restrictions,” Danny said.
“It also sits on one of the most coveted streets in Sydney - John Howard lives in the same street.”
In its original condition, the home retains much of its original grandeur and period details.
“The interiors are generously proportioned with large rooms and high ceilings. There’s so much potential for buyers to create a prized home.”
The property goes to auction on Sunday, 9 November at 1pm.
