Owner Ross Wintour described the two-bedroom two-bathroom property at 35 Northview Outlook, Moorooka as a “post-war treasure” that effortlessly blends industrial practicality with the comforts of modern day living.

The property is being marketed by Ray White Collective agent Dimitri Cassidy and is set to go under the hammer on 23 August.

Mr Cassidy said the property was perched on a 607sqm block in the heart of Clifton Hill Estate and was "absolutely oozing with soul".

Originally built in 1959 as the local general store, the home has lived a colourful life, said Mr Wintour.

Later, a butcher shop was attached to the general store and became a mower shop.

"The home now features exquisite retro wallpaper imported from Britain, groovy 60s door handles, and statement light fittings sourced straight from the mid-century mecca that is Palm Springs, California, Mr Wintour, 60, said.

“If you look closely enough, there’s remnants of a grease patch from the mower shop which you can see through the cracks of the floor board in the spare room!”

Mr Wintour said the first level of the home was extensively renovated after a massive gum tree crashed onto his roof, damaging the bedrooms in 2013.

“After decades of evolution, the home underwent an extensive - yet sympathetic - architectural recreation in 2016,” Mr Wintour said.

As part of the renovation, the home was fitted with new wiring and plumbing, and is fully insulated with sound reducing and UV protective glass.

“The transformation breathed new life into the space, marrying character with global flair,” he said.

Mr Wintour, who has lived at the property since 2000, said he had always had a grand plan to renovate however after the damage caused by the fallen tree this “set the date”.

The now retired disability support worker said underneath the home was previously used as a granny flat, however new buyers could turn it into a teenager’s retreat.

Mr Wintour built two duck ponds on the block of land which has brought him great joy and said the new owners were bound to love it too.

He has purchased a property in Springbrook, a rural town in the Gold Coast hinterland, so his pet ducks have more room.
