The property at 22 Wright Street, Balmoral is being marketed by Ray White Collective principal Brandon Wortley and is set to go to auction on 23 August at 9am.

“Spanning two levels, this beautifully designed home has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a powder room, multiple living zones, a private cinema and a saltwater pool,” Mr Wortley said.

“This home is perfectly suited to growing families who love to entertain.”

The former Brisbane Lions CEO and his wife have made the move to Melbourne. Mr Swann has taken on a new position as the AFL executive general manager of Football Performance and the pair will live closer to their daughter who is expecting their first grandchild.

The Swanns sold their dream home in Melbourne and moved into their Balmoral property about 10 years ago when Mr Swann began rebuilding the Brisbane Lions.

Mr Swann said his favourite part of the house was the living room where he enjoyed watching sport on TV.

“I’m going to miss this location, this house is in a great suburb which is central to everything,” Mr Swann said.

He said there was a “fair bit” of sporting history in the memorabilia room which would be hard to downsize.

However Mrs Swann explained that “dreams can change”.

“When we bought the house all the Lions lived around this area and we fell in love with it too - and so did our Cavoodle Bertie,” Mrs Swann said.

“There is such a nice community feel, and for us, Oxford Street was a draw card.

“It’s a high street and that’s what we were accustomed to in Victoria.”

Mrs Swann said she had looked at about 40 properties before deciding on the modern Wright Street property which is on a 607sqm block.

“We were after something that had a living room that flowed out onto the deck to the pool area,” she said.

Mr and Mrs Swann have hosted several AFL players at their home with the separate living zones being a big hit.

“We’ve had players including Cam Rayner (pictured above), Rhys Matheson, and Sam Skinner who came and stayed with us for about three to four months,” Mrs Swann said.

“Will Ashcroft had a short stay in his draft year, and we also had Toby Wooller, and Tom Fullarton.

“Dan McStay was to move in for six weeks and he stayed for eight months. We also hosted Irish hopeful Deividas Uosis.”

She said during their first year at the house they kept a tally of how many people had stayed at their pad.

“By December I had 90 different people stay at least one night! I had a mattress in the garage that I would drag into the cinema room,” Mrs Swann said.

“About 12 people can stay in the home at once, there’s plenty of space and it’s comfortable.

“The house is constantly in use by us or others - it was dubbed Chateau Swann by the constant flow of family and friends who enjoyed our hospitality over the past 10 years.”

Mrs Swann said she will miss entertaining guests and enjoying a breakfast cook-up out on the deck.

She said there were several standout features of the home including a striking 6 metre voided entry which has a “wow-factor”.

“There’s a big pivot door and the minute people walk inside they say just how beautiful the place is,” Mrs Swann said.

“This house has an energy of its own - everything has been thoughtfully designed - and the people who come here can feel it.”

The Swanns said it was time to downsize and start their next chapter, although they are sad to leave their friends and beautiful lifestyle behind.
