BIDDERS were out in force as Ray White Julie Mahoney successfully sold five out of five properties at their Townsville auction event this week.

The properties at 8 Murray Street ($597,000), 17 Mary Street ($335,000), 10A Cowley Street($235,000) and 18 Dillane Street ($222,500) all sold under the hammer, with 10 Palm Street in Rowes Bay selling prior to auction for $925,000.

Principal Julie Mahoney said all the homes offered were inner-city and were either fully renovated or on larger blocks, with four surpassing their reserve prices.

“It’s not every night you have a 100 per cent clearance rate and we achieved nearly $1.4M combined for our vendors, so it was a great evening,” Ms Mahoney said.

“Townsville is fast approaching a ‘normal’ market and the announcement of massive projects and the Adani approval has signaled confidence and the promise numerous job opportunities.

“The election has definitely resulted in renewed confidence in property as an investment option for the future.

“I believe the community voted strongly for employment, small businesses and for our farming community.

“The venue at the Ville is an upmarket destination overlooking our beautiful magnetic Island with a choice of bars and restaurants and it’s a testament to my whole team that the night was such a success.

“Palm Street is on a large 802sq m* corner position in the much-desired Rowes Bay front and offers the perfect base for people who love sea views.

“Murray Street is a beautiful Queenslander that provides city and ocean views from the dual verandahs, and the covered back deck makes it an entertainer’s delight.

“Mary Street is a wonderful character cottage on a massive 1,214sq m* block and has been modified over the years with a stroke of the 1960’s.

“Cowley Street is an entry-level home with 1930’s detail and provides the ever-popular low maintenance living option.

“And Dillane Street is a character cottage ripe for renovation or development and offers side access with a large backyard and shed.”

Ray White Queensland Chief Auctioneer Mitch Peereboom said there was a real buzz in the auction room and the 100 per cent clearance was proof auctions were the best form of selling.

“There were a number of active bidders who were simply unwilling to let go on properties they had clearly desired throughout the campaign,” Mr Peereboom said.

“In the crowd, there were 14 active and 21 registered bidders across the four homes, with a total of 39 bids throughout the evening.

“Auction as a method of sale is one we believe in and have always recommended to our clients. We still believe it’s the purest form of selling real estate.

“These results show the auction market for properties in Townsville is very much alive and kicking in a post-election Coalition victory world.”
