Something about isolation doesn’t sound so bad when it’s paired with cosy winter nights in front of a fireplace with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate (or glass of red). From the frosty wilderness of Tasmania to the ultimate winter beach getaways of the Gold Coast, we have curated some of our cosy favourites on the market right now across the country.

1.

Tamborine Mountain, QLD

This beautiful home is located in the aptly named Alpine Terrace, in Tamborine Mountain. While not far from the vibrant lights of the Gold Coast, temperatures on the mountain drop to a crisp eight degrees. A perfect excuse to fire up that delicious looking fireplace.

2.

The Basin, VIC

From the front, this gorgeous little home is the epitome of “quaint” however is actually sitting on over 1,000m2 of land. We are loving that firepit in the backyard for those chilly nights in the East of Melbourne.

3.

Chain of Lagoons, TAS

That rugged coastline looks like something of a wintery seaside movie set. Even though the temperatures in Tassie drop down to sub-zero during winter, there is nothing like a brisk walk along a beautiful beachfront on a sunny winter’s day. And of course, finishing off with a defrost around the fire.

4.

Moss Vale, NSW

This ‘cottage’ is something truly out of a fairytale. Like goldilocks, we would like to spend our entire winter sitting here eating our porridge. The Manor House features beautifully revived gothic architecture. It is full of grand fireplaces and 12ft ceilings.

5.

Dyraaba, NSW

This lounge room just screams at us to pull out the marshmallows and get toasting with a few bottles of wine and board games to accompany. The Dyraaba Historic Homestead was once home to a vast cattle empire. It is now home to 50 Angus cows and calves which roam through the rolling fertile country.

6.

South Launceston, TAS

Another gorgeous little Tasmanian home built in 1900 and ready to be furnished with some cosy furniture, and wintery colour tones and textiles. The lounge room windows catch the afternoon winter sun, as well as a reverse cycle heat pump to stay toasty all year round (a must-have in Tassie!)

7.

Limpinwood NSW

Is there anything more glorious than waking up to a sunrise from that beautiful northerly aspect, on a crisp winter’s morning? This property is off the grid and also features a luxury jet spa for those icy winter evenings. The 100-acre property is tucked away between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay.

8.

Whitwarta, SA

This Victorian-style home looks straight out of the English countryside. The balcony provides a beautiful rural outlook to Whitwarta in regional South Australia. Added bonuses are the beautifully landscaped gardens, 8 car spaces and an outdoor fire pit for the perfect sunny winter afternoon.

9.

Nedlands, WA

That sunroom, bathed in the northern afternoon light, has us weak at the knees. This beautiful 1927 character home in beautiful Perth. We can picture a cosy and intimate gathering of friends (after social distancing relaxes, of course) around the lounge by the fireplace, and will also give the kids enough space to build a castle out of the sofa while you zone out on Netflix.

10.

Mittagong, NSW

Take away our phones, computers, televisions give us this divine little cottage to hibernate and read copious amounts of books in. Built with charming double brick and surrounded by two acres of space for your ponies and chickens, this home really is what winter dreams are made of.
