Graham and his family transferred to Gladstone in the mid 80’s to help with the evolving tourism industry to Heron Island, the establishment of the Marine Pilot Transfers, Lighthouse Services, Search and Rescue and other industries. With its climate and community atmosphere it did not take long for Graham and his family to realise that Gladstone was to be their permanent home.
