Ray White Clayfield agents Nick Kouparitsas and Oliver Menkens have listed the family home of celebrated Brisbane endocrinologist Dr Brian Hirschfeld, a landmark elevated character residence at 14 Enderley Road, Clayfield on just shy of 1,100sqm with northerly views stretching out to Moreton Bay.

“Properties of this scale, history and street presence rarely come to market in Clayfield. This one has been held and cherished for more than 50 years,” Mr Kouparitsas said.

Dr Brian Hirschfeld passed away a year ago and he left the most incredible legacy as one of Queensland's pioneering diabetes specialists. A University of Queensland graduate who served in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II before completing his medical training, he co-founded the Diabetic Clinic at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1963, an institution that went on to save the lives of countless Queenslanders over the following decades. He practised for more than 50 years, forging a celebrated clinical partnership with Dr Alan Stocks AM that became the backbone of diabetes care in southeast Queensland.

His family roots ran just as deep. His father, Otto Hirschfeld, was Chancellor of the University of Queensland and a beloved figure in Brisbane medicine. A building at UQ bears the Hirschfeld name to this day.

But for his sons David and John Hirschfeld, it is the home itself, and the life lived within it, that defines the legacy.

"The backyard was the centre of the universe for kids in this street," said John Hirschfeld.

"Neighbourhood kids would join us for backyard sporting epics. Some of those friendships have lasted more than half a century,” David Hirschfeld said.

"You'd never get tired of admiring the view. Whether it was the sandhills of Moreton Bay, the Glasshouse Mountains, summer storms rolling in, or watching the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race, the outlook never got old."

That outlook remains as commanding as ever. Elevated to capture beautiful breezes and a north-south orientation, the home's character is beautifully intact, original high ceilings, traditional VJ walls, French doors and hardwood timber floors span a four-bedroom, two-bathroom floor plan with formal lounge, dining, sunroom and kitchen upstairs, and extensive storage and parking below.

The site spans two lots with 62m of frontage and dual street access, presenting a genuinely rare set of options for its next owner.

Whether transformed into a grand family estate complete with pool and tennis court, or reconfigured to capitalise on the exceptional land parcel, the possibilities are as expansive as the block itself).

The address is equally compelling. The home sits 300 metres from St Rita's College, 550 metres from St Agatha's Primary, within one kilometre of Clayfield College and St Margaret's, and within the Eagle Junction State School catchment. Oriel Park, Racecourse Road and Sandgate Road cafes and dining are moments away, with the CBD 6.5 kilometres from the door and Brisbane Airport reachable in 11 minutes.

The Clayfield property is scheduled for auction on 13 June.
