Mrs Reed and her FIFO husband found that sanctuary at 106 Yabba Street, Ascot, a quintessential Queenslander she has since transformed into a beautiful masterpiece.

Set on a 544sqm block of land, the property is being marketed by Ray White Ascot sales agent Nick Roche and set to go under the hammer on 9 May at 8am.

Stripping away the traditional blue and white for a sophisticated black-and-white palette, the Reeds have spent the last three and a half years meticulously modernising the three-bedroom, three-bathroom property.

The couple have undertaken renovations to open up the floor plan to invite the light in and create a seamless flow that bridges the gap between heritage character and contemporary luxury.

“Coming from nearly two decades of apartment living, we truly learned the value of a deck, and this house has two of the best,” Mrs Reed said.

“Whether it’s the morning coffee on the front porch or long afternoons on the rear deck, the French doors stay open and the breeze just flows through.

“In the kitchen, we added new counter tops, a splash back and closed it off to create the living room divide.

“By doing this we created a kitchen with a beautiful open and bright feel to complement the flow between the two decks.

“It is a lovely kitchen that our family have enjoyed cooking together in. It certainly has plenty of space to move around in.”

Mrs Reed said: “We created a studio apartment for our daughter, but with our youngest now off to college in Melbourne, it’s time for us to head to the coast”.

“We’re moving to the beach, leaving behind a home that we’ve tailored to be the ultimate family retreat,” she said.

After purchasing the home around three-and-a-half years ago, Mrs Reed said the renovation was comprehensive and now features a designer master ensuite with a freestanding bath, and a versatile downstairs level perfect for teenagers or a home office.

“The laundry is so big that it can be converted into a kitchen! There’s so many options for the next buyer,” Mrs Reed said.

Standout features include the large swimming pool, and enclosed yard area for children to enjoy.

“The deep end allows for kids to really have fun and enjoy the pool. I think my husband and kids have bomb dived into our pool more than just getting in!,” Mrs Reed said.

“It just makes you want to get in and have fun.”

She said the property would suit a variety of buyers including someone who wanted to add to the home and make it grand, a family who wants to live in it and extend it over time, or a young family wanting to get into the catchment area.

It could also be suitable for older adults, Mrs Reed said.
