THE RAY White Forster | Tuncurry team have shaken off the doom and gloom of recent weeks and turned their attention to helping vulnerable members of their community by simply asking “what can we do to help?”
After sending out more than 6000 flyers to locals urging them to call the office if they need anything - real estate or not - the team received an influx of requests from residents unsure of where to turn to for help.
Local, Noelene Morris was one of those residents who received a flyer, prompting her to reach out to the office as she had been unable to get out to buy her groceries.
“My mother is 84 years old and a little frail, she rang the Forster | Tuncurry branch after receiving the flyer and said she had been unable to get out and get any groceries for a week or two,” Ms Morris’ son Greg Chamberlain said.
“Unbelievably, they sent a young lady around, who took a list from mum, and went and did all her shopping for her. She returned and helped mum put the groceries away, then refused to take any money.
Mr Chamberlain also said the gesture made his elderly mother feel special in a time that has been a struggle for her and she has now left strict instructions that when her house is sold the agent must be from Ray White.
Ray White Forster | Tuncurry Director Daniel Cross said the idea was born after many in the team expressed their desire to use their time in lockdown to give back to the community.
“No one else is doing it, we were feeling restricted and we just felt like everything was so negative and everyone was down so we thought ‘what can we do to help?’ Mr Cross said.
“Many residents in the area are quite vulnerable as we have a large retirement population so we said to ourselves we are young and we can help.” |
