Australia's largest property auction house, Ray White, has 365 auctions across Australasia this week, with 206 of those taking place this Saturday.

Kicking off in inner Sydney, Ray White Surry Hills agent Jack McGhee said the owner of 56 Park Rd Sydenham has worked so hard to tweak the home over the years but it's all hidden from view thanks to a totally innocuous corner facade.

The result is a stunning, very private home, complete with the highly unusual inclusion of a pool and spa (hence the expression ‘as rare as an inground pool in Sydenham’) and a steady and enthusiastic stream of potential buyers.

With 70 groups already through at the time of writing, the afternoon auction was set to be hotly contested. The price guide sits around $1.15 million - $1.2 million.

It really is a very elegant surprise package. Hi res images can be found here.

Still with Ray White Surry Hills, and in the morning apartment 27 at 12-16 Chelsea St, Redfern which has also acted as a magnet for first home buyers and investors goes on the block

It is looking at $550,000-$600,000 and has seen 60 groups through so far, and is also with Jack McGhee.

In Petersham now and this is the first time one of the apartments in this small complex has sold since they were built. The one bedder at 10/328 Stanmore Road is surprisingly spacious and bright as a button.

Ray White Petersham Director Nicholas Arena has taken 70 groups through during the campaign which bodes well for a good auction on Saturday. The guide sits at $580,000 and the action kicks off at 1pm.

In the country now, and one of the earliest display homes in the state is up for auction (pictured above).

Set high on “Diggers Hill”, the home at 4 Comleroy Rd, Kurrajong was first a display home for ‘The Soldier Settlement’. This was a government plan described as an opportunity for servicemen returning from WWI to obtain a small residence on farm land. History buffs may enjoy this reference.

The current owner has been breeding Easter Show prize winning Welsh ponies on the property which includes a much extended home from the original floorplan - she even has a cunning way to lie in bed and watch for foaling.

Some charming aspects, including the pretty street aspect, have been retained. The property is listed with Cindy Cash of Ray White North Richmond and will be auctioned at 11am on Saturday, and has a guide price of $900,000.

Heading to Queensland now and a Red Hill classic is going to auction at 10am - well cute from the street (the picket fence does it every time) but big and spacious and superbly renovated once inside.

Ray White Paddington sales star Judi O’Dea has ushered 108 groups through 18 Woolcock St (pictured above) during the campaign, and has already signed up seven bidders.

“These are fantastic numbers,” says Ms O’Dea, who goes on to comment that she hasn’t seen activity such as this since 2005.

The property has two street frontages, high ceilings and bi-fold doors to great outdoor space. It’s a beauty and it’s off to auction early in the day. Hi res images can be found here.

The owner of this hill top Balmoral property (pictured above) remembers standing out the front watching her Mum place the winning bid - that was 36 years ago.

Flash forward and that now 70 year old woman is trusting in the auction system once again, this time as a vendor. The house is on a big, flat block with gorgeous twinkly views to the city.

Ray White Ascot agent Damon Warat has seen a great reception to 62 Victoria St (pictured above) with 60 groups filing through the two bed Queenslander.

With over 800sqm of land to play with, there’s room to grow with this one.

It kicks off at 9am on site. (You’re wondering how much her Mum paid aren’t you? Would you believe $75,000?) Hi res pictures can be found here.

Railway noise is simply not an issue for the keen inspectors at 14 Bale Street Albion. (pictured above)

In fact, according to Ray White Wilston principal Alistair Macmillan, the close proximity to the station is a plus - and potential buyers are encouraged by the government’s upcoming $150 million upgrade of the station itself.

With all that in mind, add in 90 inspections and a very impressive 15 bidders lining up for the 9am auction, and Albion might be the one to watch for an early, positive outcome.

Ray White Mermaid Beach sales agent Troy Dowker is excited about the auction of 1/351 Golden Four Drive, Tugan which boasts a superior 20m wide frontage which showcases an expansive living space to fully maximise the ocean view.

The Chairman's Elite agent has welcomed some 59 groups through this impressive entire ground floor apartment which truly connects itself to the beach.

"There's a lot of apartments in Palm Beach and surrounds but nothing like this one. I have had strong interest from across the Gold Coast and Brisbane buyers," Mr Dowker said.

The auction kicks off at 10:30am sharp.

The city of churches next and Ray White West Torrens has been a hive of activity recently.

One reason is the listing at 2 Spencer St, Cowandilla. Located in a hot spot near Henley Beach Road’s cafe culture, the interior of the interwar property looks immaculate and brand spanking new, though the Ray White West Torrens principal Michael Walkden assures us it’s just been meticulously cared for. Added extras include double glazing and reverse cycle AC.

Interest has been very high and the agency is expecting between 7-12 bidders to get their hands out of their pockets to start bidding on the day for the 2.00pm.

Heading to Victoria, a three bedroom, brick home in Mill Park (a 40 minute drive from the Melbourne CBD) is causing a ripple in the force.

Ray White Mill Park Director (aka Officer in Effective Control) Kon Kouvas reports 91 inspections of 6 Langvale Court (pictured above) during the campaign, plus the always encouraging eight second inspections and 13 contract requests.

It’s looking like a busy auction event, which is due to start on site at midday Saturday.

Six years young is the best way to describe 12A Merrilong St, Ringwood (pictured above).

Not a step out of place in this two bedder, which is currently tenanted at $390p/w. Ray White Croydon Victoria marketing agent Lynn Mitchell says it has been a short campaign of just three Saturdays, as the vendors were keen to move on to their new home.

So far 35 inspectors have toured the neat as a pin property with Lynn confident of five bidders turning up for the 3pm welcoming address.

In WA, buyers have the chance to snap up a piece of history as 247 High Street in Fremantle, the real birthplace of the first automatic tote board, which goes under the hammer on Saturday.

Lived in by English-born Australian inventor and entrepreneur Sir George Julius in the early 1900’s, the four-bedroom home was the setting for the businessman’s creation, that would ultimately be used in horse and greyhound racing around the world.

“The house was originally built by businessman and shipping agent James Lilly in the 1890’s and has a great history,” said Peter Vickridge, who was born and bred in the home in 1948.

“My parents bought the home after the Second World War from my grandparents and I have such great memories of playing in all of the nooks and crannies… it has changed a lot since the old days.

Ray White Applecross Sales Executive Noel Rogers said the property was one for buyers to savor and one that offered a rich history.

“We use the word ‘unique’ a lot in this business, but this really is a genuine opportunity to buy a home where a unique and world-famous product was invented,” Mr Rogers said.

“Believe it or not, the history doesn’t stop with the tote board invention. Sir George’s granddaughter, Wendy Whitely, went on to marry famous Australian artist Brett Whitely. The stories are endless.

“The actual home has retained its authentic and distinctive charm, with a few upgrades from the current owners along the way.

“Explosive ocean views are just the beginning, as a romantic hall marches through the centre with parlors, dining and bedrooms to either side.

“It also has the pristine original kitchen with marble benchtops, and comes with full ceiling height windows overlooking the rear gardens.

“Gambler or not, this one is worth betting on.”

The auction will take place on-site on Saturday 17 August at 11.00am.

And what about this four bedroom statement home in Tauranga, at 177 Welcome Bay Road in New Zealand. This home has been built with German engineering, according to Ray White Papamoa (NZ) sales agent Quintin Havenga.

It refers to the effort and exactitude employed in the building of this outstanding North Island home, with each stone being laid by the experienced hands of the vendor himself.

Located almost at a midpoint between Auckland and Wellington, the four bedroom, three bathroom home is a statement in subtle luxury.

The three level, resort style property has received attention from a select core of potential buyers, who are aware of the guide price of between $NZD1.8 million - $2 million ($AUD1.71 million - $1.9 million).

The auction will take place on -site at 1pm local time.
