THERE’S been strong interest in the landmark Sydney home of ocean racing yachtsman Matt Allen and his wife Lisa Allen with a starting price guide of $70M.

Ray White Double Bay managing director Elliott Placks said there had been a lot of interest from across Australia and overseas in 3 Lindsay Ave, Darling Point.

“The super prestige market in Australia is heating up among buyers and we’ve seen strong interest from qualified buyers for this exceptional property, which is truly a one of a kind in Australia," Mr Placks said.

“No doubt, the Sydney’s trophy home market has become one of the most bullish sectors in Australian property in years as it’s unaffected by many of the same issues as other parts of the sector.

“The Allen’s house showcases an unrestricted harbour view which is second to none. This masterfully designed home offers an abundance of living and entertaining areas, with limestone terraces and grand windows creating a sense of space.”

Owner Lisa Allen said the recent $15M extensive rebuild took the home to new luxury heights.

“We wanted to create infinity edged surrounding balconies and pool using natural materials that merged seemlessly with the sea. When the sun is setting the limestone balconies and pool merge and are one with the harbour. It is really quite incredible, it really feels like you are at sea,” Mrs Allen said.

“We have used many natural materials, granite, sandstone timber, limestone and cobblestones to fully integrate the house with nature “

The Allens rebuilt the garden with frangipanis, wisteria and gardenias for their scent and tropical foliage like birds of paradise so it was green and luscious yet colourful. It’s an inside, outside house. The only person who wouldn’t like this house is someone who has a lot of art as there’s not too many walls to display on,” Mrs Allen said with a chuckle.

“It’s like being on a ship and every part of it is magical.”
